BRAND NEW console games launch in the US for $59.99 (60USD)
BRAND NEW console games launch in the UK for £39.99 (40GBP)
The Taken King costs $40 in the US.
The Taken King costs.. £40 in the UK?!*
The publisher is Activision UK Ltd, it's a digital download which means there's no import tax. The Taken King should cost between £28-£30 here when VAT is added. Where is this extra £12 coming from? You even have the cheek to reduce the Collector's Edition cost by £5. Collector's Edition costs $80 in the US, but £75* in the UK? I'm sorry but who was the incompetent moron who put together these prices?
* - [i]Prices obtained from Bungie.net, Xbox Marketplace, PlayStation Store and Game.co.uk[/i]
Edit 1: I know that it costs £28 on Xbox. This means that either Microsoft have underpriced it, or Sony have overpriced it. Someone's made an error
Edit 2: Microsoft have [b]RAISED[/b] the price to £40 to meet PlayStation's cost. Very sad day.
Edit 3: The newest of [u]IGN's Destiny Fireteam Podcast[/u] mentioned our problems with the pricing for TTK for UK gamers! Listen to it here! http://uk.ign.com/videos/2015/06/27/fireteam-chat-ep-24-the-bungie-apology-igns-destiny-podcast
Edit 4: Someone created this petition, sign it!
https://www.change.org/p/bungie-activision-price-destiny-fairly-in-the-uk
Edit 5: You can now buy the[b] Legendary Edition of The Taken King for £35.95[/b] on a specific retailer website. That's the Destiny base game, both expansions and the Taken King expansion - let me clarify [b]that's cheaper than the Taken King expansion on it's OWN[/b]. You can all facepalm now.
Edit 6: Bungie still have yet to make any sort of remark to this massive problem that divides the UK gaming community from Bungie and it's game. With an outcry as big as this I can't see how Bungie wouldn't yet be aware of this problem. That said, I urge you to keep bumping and spreading this forum post in the little hope that Bungie/Activision may finally realize this problem should be re-looked at.
Edit 7: Problem solved! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/152023108/0/0
Edit 8: And, as expected, the Collector's Edition Upgrade in the PS Store/Xbox Marketplace which includes the dances, shaders and items costs a ridiculous £19.99 ($30). The same DLC costs only $20 in the US.

Sorry for hijacking your post Pinkiepie with my mini-thread. I just wish that Bungie or some kind of outside source would hire an analyst, figure out the math and explain it to everyone. Good luck to our UK/Australian Gamers on their front. Bump

Bump this, i live in Romania and i am forced to create an UK PSN account just to have access to PS Plus, not to mention that the salary here is quite low, just to sum it up, my salary is 6x times the cost of this DLC. COME ON BUNGIE

Can't stop the bump.

This is what you guys get for voting Destiny GoTY over there. Bungievision saw it as an opportunity to make more money.

So don't buy it. If UK players refuse to buy it at that price point, future expansions will be cheaper. If y'all buy it, they will stay the same.
-
I'm sure I'm not the only person who bought the original digital version of Destiny with the passes for the first two expansions on day one and I feel that all of us who have already bought the game are being punished for being loyal and trusting customers and that this is being taken advantage of by charging extortionate prices for add-ons. Why there is only a £15.00 difference between buying the add-on standalone and the whole game including all expansions is beyond me. Over the years the add-on pricing has got silly when you sum up buying a game on release plus it's later to be released add-ons can easily end up costing £100 plus. It's time to stop buying these add-ons until the companies stop being so [b]GREEDY[/b].

Why not just buy it from America and have it sent over? Can this not be done?
-
I don't understand why anyone outside the U.S. Is continuing on destiny except maybe Mexico where I've heard it's actually cheaper
-
If you're unhappy, vote with your wallet. The power's in the hands of the customer, and if enough people in the UK affect sales here, then activision would have to change their pricing policy And even if it doesn't, I'm sure TTK will be much cheaper come next year - there may even be a definitive years 1 & 2 edition prior to the release of D2
-
I will bump this everyday until it is addressed
-
This is one of the reasons why year 2 is going to become the year of not playing for me Activision/Bungie won't do what the community wants unless it's weapon nerfs More content? [i]have one of each weapon, with a [b]Nerfed[/b] tag on it. They do 0 damage.[/i]

I was expecting to pay around $40 for the expansion. Im in Australia and thought that the price would be similar to usa but just got on to the ps store and found out its going to cost $70 for an expansion seems a bit much.

very much agree with your post. but, you should be in an activion forum about the inflated price point.
