BRAND NEW console games launch in the US for $59.99 (60USD)
BRAND NEW console games launch in the UK for £39.99 (40GBP)
The Taken King costs $40 in the US.
The Taken King costs.. £40 in the UK?!*
The publisher is Activision UK Ltd, it's a digital download which means there's no import tax. The Taken King should cost between £28-£30 here when VAT is added. Where is this extra £12 coming from? You even have the cheek to reduce the Collector's Edition cost by £5. Collector's Edition costs $80 in the US, but £75* in the UK? I'm sorry but who was the incompetent moron who put together these prices?
* - Prices obtained from Bungie.net, Xbox Marketplace, PlayStation Store and Game.co.uk
Edit 1: I know that it costs £28 on Xbox. This means that either Microsoft have underpriced it, or Sony have overpriced it. Someone's made an error
Edit 2: Microsoft have RAISED the price to £40 to meet PlayStation's cost. Very sad day.
Edit 3: The newest of IGN's Destiny Fireteam Podcast mentioned our problems with the pricing for TTK for UK gamers! Listen to it here! http://uk.ign.com/videos/2015/06/27/fireteam-chat-ep-24-the-bungie-apology-igns-destiny-podcast
Edit 4: Someone created this petition, sign it!
https://www.change.org/p/bungie-activision-price-destiny-fairly-in-the-uk
Edit 5: You can now buy the Legendary Edition of The Taken King for £35.95 on a specific retailer website. That's the Destiny base game, both expansions and the Taken King expansion - let me clarify that's cheaper than the Taken King expansion on it's OWN. You can all facepalm now.
Edit 6: Bungie still have yet to make any sort of remark to this massive problem that divides the UK gaming community from Bungie and it's game. With an outcry as big as this I can't see how Bungie wouldn't yet be aware of this problem. That said, I urge you to keep bumping and spreading this forum post in the little hope that Bungie/Activision may finally realize this problem should be re-looked at.
Edit 7: Problem solved! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/152023108/0/0
Edit 8: And, as expected, the Collector's Edition Upgrade in the PS Store/Xbox Marketplace which includes the dances, shaders and items costs a ridiculous £19.99 ($30). The same DLC costs only $20 in the US.

I would also like to add a few things to this list that seem to have been missed. Such as the price is exactly the same for the physical collectors as it is for the digital...even though the physical collectors gets all those cool goodies such as the replica strange coin and the notes and such. So what they are saying is that those parts of the collectors are free...just for getting the physical version? Also something else that I'm not 100% sure about, and would like confirmation, but if it is true then it's another slap in the face to the long term "LOYAL" destiny players. The VIP rewards are granted for people who own both expansions prior to the end of August (just gone) or a level 30 character. Now as far as I'm aware, if you pre-order the game (digital version) either legendary or collectors. You get both expansions to use immediately. So do those people who pre-ordered before the end of August get the same VIP rewards as those true loyal fans? So if all that is true, then the "Loyal" fans are truly being t-bagged by Bungie. Not only are we having to pay more, we aren't getting anything extra to the new players.

Edited by MojoJojo44: 8/22/2015 11:32:00 PMThis is absolutely unfair, I must agree. A real kick in the teeth to loyal fans, and all because a bunch of us (and a significant bunch at that) happen to live on one side of the Atlantic. I'd like to see some form of recognition/comment/explanation from Bungie or Activision as to why us poor little British folk are continually screwed over. I paid more than a third more for the original game plus expansions than my American counterparts. In my book, that aint right. I'm sure most people would agree. Until some form of acknowledgement is given - I'm not exactly getting my hopes up that this will include the fair reduction in the price of the game, just some kind of comment to show that Bungie are interested in their UK fans - I won't be purchasing TTK. Sad times indeed :-(

I'm properly torn about this this as again in uk. 40 pound is a whole new game and with halo 5 , MSG , mario maker (i dont care i like mario) star wars Battlefront Uncharted 4 Uncharted collection these are just games i plan on getting at some point I love the raid aspect but there just isnt a whole new game here no matter how its sold its an expansion and a rip off.

Im really close to throwing in the towel with Destiny. I guess Bungie really want those Smacktivision million dollar bonuses huh. Didnt make enough money already eh Bungie? Finding it hard to feed your families? I think not. Its really sad. Destiny was THE reason I got a PS4 and I have loved the game and still do. It makes me sad to think I will just have to cut off completely. The only remedy is to lower the price. I can take a fisting so long as you use lube Bungie.

This is being ignored isn't it... stupidity.
-
This is kinda representative of a wider issue in UK game pricing, but it's incredibly stupid that me buying a boxed copy of this game (featuring content approaching £100 over the course of the past year) is actually as cheap as buying The Taken King standalone for a "Year One" player. And I think people who are arguing that we've gotten lots of mileage, and the price doesn't matter, are missing the point. If a precedent is set to -blam!- people over, then -blam!-ing people over will just become the accepted norm.
-
Bump.

bungie can suck my balls... loyal player gone until this is addressed
-
I'm appalled at this. It's greed and it's insulting to loyal gamers. I'm not buying it until it comes down in price. We have the power if we hold off from buying it
-
I honestly can't believe this hasn't been addressed. It's disgusting that they refuse to even acknowledge this. Not even in the UK I just don't approve of sleazy business practices.
-
It is a shame seeing so many people who love the game being pushed away by greed.
