BRAND NEW console games launch in the US for $59.99 (60USD)
BRAND NEW console games launch in the UK for £39.99 (40GBP)
The Taken King costs $40 in the US.
The Taken King costs.. £40 in the UK?!*
The publisher is Activision UK Ltd, it's a digital download which means there's no import tax. The Taken King should cost between £28-£30 here when VAT is added. Where is this extra £12 coming from? You even have the cheek to reduce the Collector's Edition cost by £5. Collector's Edition costs $80 in the US, but £75* in the UK? I'm sorry but who was the incompetent moron who put together these prices?
* - Prices obtained from Bungie.net, Xbox Marketplace, PlayStation Store and Game.co.uk
Edit 1: I know that it costs £28 on Xbox. This means that either Microsoft have underpriced it, or Sony have overpriced it. Someone's made an error
Edit 2: Microsoft have RAISED the price to £40 to meet PlayStation's cost. Very sad day.
Edit 3: The newest of IGN's Destiny Fireteam Podcast mentioned our problems with the pricing for TTK for UK gamers! Listen to it here! http://uk.ign.com/videos/2015/06/27/fireteam-chat-ep-24-the-bungie-apology-igns-destiny-podcast
Edit 4: Someone created this petition, sign it!
https://www.change.org/p/bungie-activision-price-destiny-fairly-in-the-uk
Edit 5: You can now buy the Legendary Edition of The Taken King for £35.95 on a specific retailer website. That's the Destiny base game, both expansions and the Taken King expansion - let me clarify that's cheaper than the Taken King expansion on it's OWN. You can all facepalm now.
Edit 6: Bungie still have yet to make any sort of remark to this massive problem that divides the UK gaming community from Bungie and it's game. With an outcry as big as this I can't see how Bungie wouldn't yet be aware of this problem. That said, I urge you to keep bumping and spreading this forum post in the little hope that Bungie/Activision may finally realize this problem should be re-looked at.
Edit 7: Problem solved! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/152023108/0/0
Edit 8: And, as expected, the Collector's Edition Upgrade in the PS Store/Xbox Marketplace which includes the dances, shaders and items costs a ridiculous £19.99 ($30). The same DLC costs only $20 in the US.

bump!

Bungie -blam!- all destiny players we all know but they double penetrate UK players.
-
Bungie just can't count
-
Just saying new games on ps4 do not cost around £40, more like £55 for triple a's
-
-
If you have an Xbox you usually have to pay in American money. Why do I say this because my friend in Britain only had to pay around £35-36.
-
Not paying a penny for this DLC until the price is dropped to around the £25 mark. I'm sure I won't be alone in doing so either. I've enjoyed year 1 of destiny, but I'm still more than willing to walk away if it's clear I'm blatantly being taken advantage of. We aren't complaining about the DLC being too expensive, we're complaining that we have to effectively pay 50% more than what others are paying for exactly the same content. That's just not fair and I'm not willing to be a brainless sheep and go ahead with it anyways, even if it does cost me the experience of playing my favourite console game. I'm not sure who is responsible for the pricing, Bungie, Activision or Sony & Microsoft. But it really irritates me that this issue has been around for ages now and not a word has been said about it from Bungie. Just completely stonewalled. Are they responsible? Who knows, but it's clear they don't seem to care. If they did they'd have actually said something by now...

Was interested in getting back into Destiny with this expansion, but I'm not paying £40 for it on principal, giving how much cheaper it is in the US. A shame, but forget it - plenty of other games to play.

Edited by Kilo Zer0: 9/11/2015 8:14:27 AMI'm from the U.S. and the pricing for foreign lands is complete bullshit. It's either lazy idiocy or total greed. Sorry people from everywhere else.

your right, but I bet we all still buy it!! (which I am guessing they already know that.)

I posted a similar article when the original dlcs were released. I got no official reply and lots of abuse from ignorant Americans. Not saying all Americans just those who don't understand money
-
Edited by Magnetronx: 9/7/2015 5:19:27 PMThere will be no reply to this issue from Bungie, they will have been gagged by Activision. This smells of an Activision market test to see how the $=£ pricing goes in the UK and other countries. If sales are still good then expect to see future full release games published by Activision to be priced $=£. Sad outlook for non US gamers :(
-
Think it's an absolute disgrace that Bungie have not even acknowledged this post yet.
-
What bothers me is the lack of some sort of official statement from Bungie. Disgusting. If I lived in the UK I would be so pissed...
