People are always arguing that only science or a God can be true. Not both, but why not both? I mean how could all that we know as our universe just "BE" without atleast a small nudge from a God? Perhaps he set things in motion and then took a step back to let things naturally run their course?
I'm not very religious and i don't know the bible inside and out, but wasn't the sun created on like the 3rd day or something to that effect?
And if we use the sun to tell what is 1 day, then couldn't the first days have been thousands or millions of years?
Just a thought...
Like i said i'm not that religious so i'm sure i'm missing things, but maybe some of you guys can offer some more knowledgable opinions?
-
Sure. Can science coexist with gods as they are typically shown in religions? No.
-
Whoever said No is fûcking stupid.
-
*Only reads "BE."* Oh.. Before Education.
-
Okay, christianity... Adam and eve ate the fruit. Which created original sin. Meaning that many years later, jesus came and died for our sins. If god set evolution in motion, the common belief in this sense, that would mean no sin, and no need for jesus b

-
Science doesn't disprove god, only some details of some religious belief systems, particularly if interpreted as literal or perfect.
-
Not really, no. Science is about finding evidence and making a logical conclusion. It is about observation, testability, and research. Religion is about faith, believing without evidence. It does not possess the cornerstones of the scientific method, nor encourages them. I doubt they can really co-exist, since science is about finding answers. Religion is about thousand-year traditions.
-
Yeah, I think that science is our way of explaining some religions. I know a fair amount of Christianity, Judaism and Mormon. I don't know jacksquat about Buddhism and Chinese/Japanese religion.
-
-
They can coexist as long as people accept that religious texts aren't 100% fact. Ex: The earth is 5k or 6k years old? No, it's billions of years old.
-
Idk if there's any God or higher power, but if there is something that created our universe/any other universe than of course God can exist with science. If there is a God, then he made science. If there is no God then shit man idk lol oh well we won't ever know for sure what's out there until we die!
-
You mean they aren't the same person? ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)
-
Maybe the very vague notion of a prime mover. Certainly not ANY of the current large religions.
-
I saw something on tv about a "god gene" being discovered in all humans. Just felt like mentioning it :P
-
The theory that there were large portions of time in between creation days is a prevalent theory. But it isn't really supported by texts. I wont go into specifics about that but i do believe that god and science exist, but aren't equal. If you look at most "evidence" for evolution, it doesn't really add up. Not trying to preach, just giving some input

The way I see it is that God created earth and set forth a bunch of microbes and evolution took it's course.
-
It purely depends on if the god is an omnipotent one, and then if the god is willing to fact check the science.
-
Until someone actually takes up the burden of proof, yes. Yes they can.
-
I'd love to find out the answers of how we were created. But people shouldn't rely on a god to reward them or protect them, they can only rely on themselves.
-
The 69% yes made me smile a lot. For multiple reasons.
-
Did God make the universe, or the Big Bang?
Answer: God started the Big Bang.
-
Time dilation I say! Time dilation!
-
They can co-exist but not most religions can't be under this. Take the bible, with so many events riddled in a more magic or fantasy state, it can't back down from its point now. Wether you take it literally or not, some (even most if it) is supposed to be true. I'm pretty sure other religions fall under fallacies of their own "science" but I only used this as an example as being a former Christian changed to Diest at 17. (Greatest relief of my life)
-
depends on the sub religion.
