People are always arguing that only science or a God can be true. Not both, but why not both? I mean how could all that we know as our universe just "BE" without atleast a small nudge from a God? Perhaps he set things in motion and then took a step back to let things naturally run their course?
I'm not very religious and i don't know the bible inside and out, but wasn't the sun created on like the 3rd day or something to that effect?
And if we use the sun to tell what is 1 day, then couldn't the first days have been thousands or millions of years?
Just a thought...
Like i said i'm not that religious so i'm sure i'm missing things, but maybe some of you guys can offer some more knowledgable opinions?

The way I see it, God created the universe through the big bang as an experiment. Now He's just observing what's happening. -
For a class I've got, writing a paper about artificial intelligence. Found something online called "Apocalyptic AI." To me, sounds like a merger of science and religion. If you want to check out the article I was reading, "Apocalyptic AI: Religion and the Promise of Artificial Intelligence" by Robert Geraci. Sounds like some of the basis of this idea is from "The Coming Merger of Mind and Machine" by Ray Kurzweil.

Edited by Kalameet: 5/2/2015 3:26:15 PMNope, anyone who says so is intellectually dishonest. Science works with evidence. No evidence for God, therefore no reason to believe in God. Simple. Unless of course, evidence for a god were to show up, then perhaps they would be compatible, but not currently at all.

Edited by SpiderMan Two: 5/3/2015 5:11:46 AMOf course they can exist together. Science is simply the study of things around us. Some people view it as more than that. Science is sometimes viewed as an abstract entity, which can cause confusion.

History tells us no

Edited by LahDsai: 4/30/2015 3:55:41 AMYes, in the same sense that science and philosophy can coexist. Science teaches us the "what" and "how" ( the black & whites) . God (philosophy) teaches us the "why" and "should" ( the grays).

I believe God uses science as a tool. For example God created the Big Bang.

FOR SCIENCE!

Mythical gods can exist with science. However, magic doesn't exist, so a real one couldn't.

Edited by Doc: 5/3/2015 12:29:40 AMIf you work in a scientific field then I believe even having religion involved is just irrational and illogical not to say entirely unnecessary.
-
Science and Religion / God complement each other.
-
God is energy. It doesn't think, it just creates.

Edited by RichardSalad: 5/2/2015 3:58:59 PMYeah, totally! A lot of people confuse religion and science as things that contradict each other, when the truth is they really don't. Like, for example, if an omnipotent, omnipresent God does exist don't you think there would be a Big Bang if he/she commanded something to happen?Or that it has the ability to make the physics that apply to us? The truth is religion just give a meaning to science, so instead of saying " Oh, it all happened by accident that everything and everyone was made just as they are." Instead it says "People were made by an all powerful being that knew exactly what it was doing to make everything as it is and to put Earth right in the perfect spot to make life possible by using the physics and science that it made so one day we would be able to trace life back to it." If you think about it, it is a little unreasonable to think that all the millions of conditions that life needs to exist just so happened to perfectly align so that life might happen, because even with all the conditions needed for life to be possible there is still a minuscule chance that it would happen. So thinking that it all happened by accident is a little illogical.
I'm not especially religious I just try to take stuff like this into deeper consideration than most
Anything is possible with science. That's what I go by.
-
Perhaps science is the tool God uses to create??
-
I believe that they can maybe God uses these science as his tool to do what he does
-
I feel that they are counter parts. Science tries to disprove God and God disproves science.
-
Don't a lot of religious people believe in technology and cells?
-
Yes, they can. In fact, I believe that very thing.
-
anyone voting yes doesnt understand science
-
Unfortunately even if it were possible, which I'm glad it isn't, all I can imagine hearing is "Yeah, God indirectly did that by allowing that scientific thing to happen in his world." No, they can't. It's already been shown. Remember how God made all the aminals? Nope. Evolution. Remember when God made The Earth 6,000 years ago? Nope, The Earth is over 4.8 Billion years old, and we still haven't found any pixie dust onsite. Science might not have 'disproven' 'God ' yet, but so far everything 'God' claimed he did, he was only taking credit for natural science's work.
-
Currently yes. Eventually no
-
Science was originally created to understand all that God made, so...
-
Dude, wanna know what would be REALLY ironic? If GOD gave life to all things as a SCIENCE EXPERIMENT That would be hilarious and would really throw those religious nuts for a loop

Edited by Lady Masque: 5/2/2015 3:21:21 PMIf a God does in fact, Exist. Then They could. Though some followers would not due to ignorance.
