• There's something called
reading comprehension.

Look it up.
My point, if bungie wants to nerf the felwinter's and other big-name shotguns, why do they create a nerf that affects the bad weapons more than the best?

They wanted to affect how all special weapons are used in the crucible. Prior to this patch, you could use your special the entire match and never run out of ammo. Clearly they intend special weapons to be used more sparingly.

  • Shotguns have MASSIVE damage in pve. I don't think even gjallarhorn can top the damage output of a good shotgun in pve. It's just crazy how much damage they can do. Also, bungie has proven to be able to separate the pve and pvp weapon statistics from each others. They did it once, they can do it again.

  • Making a separate nerf for a non exotic weapon will be a mess. Where do you stop?

You should by now already know how powerful felwinter's is. It's a one shot to possibly over 10-15m (I've seen it) They should target the nerf to the best shotguns and best perk combos. Maybe reduce the effectiveness of those perks in that weapon (that's possible too) and also reduce the initial range. Hammerforged, rangefinder, shot package etc. When balancing shotguns in a high paced action game the best formula has been proven to be: high damage output, low range lower damage output, longer range

Your post is all about Special ammo nerf being "overkill", when Primaries are perfectly fine. The problem was that people relied on their Specials way too often, primarily Shotguns and Fusion Rifles, so they nerfed Specials completely. In turn, persuading people to use Primaries.

  • What I'm trying to say, is that Bungie went to wrong way. Instead of making them pretty much useless in normal use, now you have to spare them and you're limited to one single weapon for 90% of your match time which is quite dull for the gameplay. Secondly, this nerf hits weaker specials the worst. The gap between the best and worst is even bigger. More power to the best when compared to the worse ones. Why would you use a fast rate of fire shotgun instead of felwinter's? There's no advantage anymore. And lastly, this gives emphasizes getting the best primary possible. So don't use an exotic on your special slot, just get the best primary you can. And that in return leads to full-on thorn, red death and tlw spam. Is that any better for variety bungie wanted?

  • I get what you are saying but you are absolutely over exaggerating saying you will be stuck with one weapon for 90% of the match. You will have plenty of special ammo. You just will actually have to choose the right moments to use it finally. Instead of routinely having so much you can't even pick any more up

  • Just cause you cant use a shotty the entire match doesn't make it useless. Quit crying for everything to get nerfed ffs

  • I don't use shotguns. I despise them. I'm just afraid that this patch gave even more power to the best shotguns and hit the weaker ones the worst. If felwinter's is rated at 90/100 points and random shottie X is 55/100 points. What do you think happens when a nerf hits the weapons that's nerfs them equally by 40 points? Felwinter's still manages to hold a 50/100 rating while the shottie X dropped down to 15/100. The other shottie is now useless and there's absolutely no point what-so-ever in using it.
