Why does Bungie seem to think Destiny is doing so well?

It seems strange to me that anytime Deej is asked about the state of the game...he always comes back with the same canned response about how many hours people have poured into the game. its always the same "well based on how much people are playing...id say we're doing great!" kind of statement.. But that doesnt really mean anything....nothing at all...it only means that people believed (and some still believe) all the hype around this game...the hype that Bungie manufactured... Bungie...i promise you...majority of the people still playing are GRINDING....and it has truly become a grind...it is more work than fun at this point.... The only reason people are still pouring in the hours is because they HOPE that bungie will finally deliver the game they promised us for years...and when (if) that time comes, they dont want to have fallen behind... that is the ONLY reason people are still playing... How many times did they think we would want to do the same missions over and over with the same modifiers? Especially the Xbox folks who only have 70% of the actual game content to play... Boring is an understatement.... I've noticed in the past 5-10 days that nearly all of my friends have quit Destiny... the last 2 days I've signed on and not a single person is on....everyone has regressed back to Madden or FIFA or COD or anything that ISNT Destiny... I feel like this Dark Below is just another way for them to manufacture hype....i strongly suggest NOT buying the DLC until you know exactly what you are getting...and if you plan on continuing to circle the same 5 caves for relic iron for hours on end... I just dont understand how Bungie isnt saying that their game is in a dire situation... They've applied band-aids to a few small issues...but have yet to even mention a fix with any actual substance... I've just about had enough of Bungie....I thought for some reason they were the best game -makers out there...i've completely lost that mind-frame....i now think they're just money hungry half-ass game designers like everyone else on the market...you've really lowered your bar bungie... its really sad...its insulting to your fans. Its even more insulting to keep boasting about how great your game is...and how much ppl play it....when the ppl playing it are on the verge of giving up.... act quickly bunige....MCC coming soon! Personally, i think 11/11 will mark the end of my mind numbingly repetitive days in the universe that is Destiny. (EDIT: MCC was the biggest flop of any game in the history of gaming...halo 5 beta though....cant come fast enough) Prove to me that i want (70% of) this DLC bungie....prove to me that your game isnt dying....Spoiler (it is)

  • I am disappointed with Bungie but don't completely agree with the OP. First off, I play both PS and XB, I think each system has it's pro's and cons. That said, I did start out with the original Xbox and Halo on that system's launch day. At that time Bungie was relatively unknown and experienced massive success almost overnight. Halo was revolutionary and Bungie's reputation is well deserved. That said, when we all learned that they were developing a new game, especially considering the hype, we all expected Bungie to deliver a Halo level experience. They have not done that. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Destiny and I think the way they have merged the FPS with the MMO stuff is pretty cool (and I'm not an MMO person). I think they've found a way to increase the character development and player involvement in the game exponentially What they forgot was plot. Halo's plot was silver screen worthy (fingers crossed). I have yet to find anything more than comic book scraps worth of plot in Destiny. I also agree with the board that the duration of the game and variety of content is sad in comparison with what we have all come to know and expect from Bungie. I think Bungie's split from MS was well played on their part. They are after all a company which needs to make money and denying an entire platform doesn't make good business sense. But why would they develop a multi-plat game and then tease half their user base with content unavailable to them (keep in mind I have both systems here,). I'm not the ultra leveled up player (kind of slow) so I have not exhausted everything yet, but not far from it and I've only been playing a week! Lastly, to those with the argument "numbers don't lie", data can be manipulated in almost any way desired, including numbers. Hours played, or number of users is not an indication that everyone is happy with the game. It could be, but it could also be due to lack of content available so players just play the only decent game available. As I said, I'm, enjoying the game, but Bungie should be listening to the boards and adapting to the concerns raised here. Everyone here has the same interest, awesome gaming. If Bungie were to work with their customers they would not only be profitable, they would nurture a userbase which would provide support for future franchises. If they do not listen, the userbase which was begun with Halo will likely lose faith in the once untouchable Bungie powerhouse.
