  • You actually need to cut (trim) your hair if you're growing it out. The healthier it is, the faster and thicker it will grow.

  • Well, back when I was in high school I never cut my hair junior-senior year and it ended up growing past my shoulders. But thick hair runs in my family. My dad is 53 and has a full thick head of hair.

  • You're lucky that thick hair runs in your family! I also have fast-growing, thick hair. I donate it every few years, even. Still, keeping it trimmed keeps it much healthier, as it prevents split ends and thinning at the bottom.

  • I'm very grateful I was lucky enough that thick hair runs in my family. When I got it cut (when it was long) I ended up donating it, as well. It's starting to get kind of long now, and I'm thinking of waiting a few months and then doing a haircut and donate again. I trim the ends of my beard for the reason you stated, I'm not sure why I don't apply that same routine to my hair.
