I don't think it's that they didn't listen, but they listened to the wrong people. Not surprised though, since now they are affiliated with Activision and the same thing has been going on for years with call of duty.
Instead of focusing on the glaring issues, such as glitches and connection problems, they went the politicians route and diverted attention by worrying about "cheeses". Also, why were maps removed from pvp? That was completely unnecessary, but another example of listening to the wrong people. There was nothing wrong with the maps and added much needed diversity.
