Mythbusting the VoG

I'm becoming highly skeptical about this elusive "extra chest", especially after all the work my raid team has put in debunking a lot of myths and theories about how to spawn a chest. The idea is intriguing, and we'd like to continue our search; however, we're running out of ideas. I thought we could get a little more organized, and discuss what works and what obviously doesn't. Please, no posts about "my friend told me blah blah blah" or "I swear I saw something" crap without evidence. Pics or it didn't happen. We'll divide this into two categories: what we know works and/or alters something in the instance, and what has been debunked. WHAT WORKS - If your team doesn't let any vex take a sync plate while opening the gate, lights in the ceiling above the first chest are a distinct blue. - If you successfully keep the Templar from teleporting, a 5th chest spawns. MYTHS BUSTED - Flawless raider does not spawn an additional chest. - After Atheon is down you cannot open the door. We explored every corner of the room, and there's nowhere to go. - My team has cleared out several Gorgons. We tried killing 1, 3 in a row without respawn, and all of them individually without a wipe. - We have tried several "trigger" attempts in which no vex sacrificed, no marks of negation received, no hobgoblins killed, no vex taking a sync plate, no Templar teleports, and not getting spotted by gorgons. Edit: Scoreboard theory seems most viable at this point, and we will be pursuing that further. We have obviously not met all criteria for a myth-bust; however, we know this combination in particular did not work. - The spaces above and below the Templar's Well are interesting, but nothing was discovered - As a group, we took the 2nd jump puzzle to the distant vex portal as well as the small cave below the start of that jump puzzle (nothing there). - For the portal phase before Atheon we went into each portal and did a sweep of the area - with and without the relics. There doesn't seem to be anything important. The door is closed and each broken portal has lights on the bottom and spawns vex. WHAT ARE OUR CLUES? WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? Considering a trigger spawns the 5th chest, many of us believe another trigger activates another chest - possibly more. These should be explored further, and anything observed to be altered in the raid would be helpful information. Also, the 5th chest is accessible in both normal and hard mode, and deaths are excusable. In my opinion, deaths or level of difficulty should not effect whether or not a chest can spawn. Do any of the lights past the first chest room change throughout the raid based on triggers or alternate path locations? If you notice something different than usual...record that! TLDR: Please no posts about "it doesn't exist. We are well aware it could be nothing and that Bungie is either keeping us playing or not releasing some content of the VoG until the next DLC. Helpful comments, ideas, or evidence please. L3G3NDARY Outlaws is dedicated to the cause, but we need to know we're going in the right direction. UPDATE 11/15/14 Tonight was fun. We tested the scoreboard theory some more. At the confluxes we had no vex sacrifice and no fanatics killed. Then no marks of negation and no hobgoblin kills on the oracle phase. Also we killed the oracles in the exact order they spawned. Next we killed Atheon without time's vengeance or killing any oracles. We started off trying to make supplicants self-destruct, but we never ended up doing enough damage to Atheon. Nothing came of any of this, but I'd say it was an accomplishment and a challenging way to play the raid. Any other teams out there that have been successful in completing phases like this?

 • I recall seeing a master chief Easter egg on YouTube. It was done by punching individual plates on Venus. Could something like this be implemented in the VoG? If it has been tested lemme know.
