Why can't OP's delete or lock their own posts?

If the OP feels like his own post has gotten out of hand, then why shouldn't he be allowed to lock (or even delete) it?

No, they say "Check out Duardo's Titles and Prefixes thread". There's an implied amount of understood intellectual ownership. I don't think anybody's trying to say that they literally own their thread and that altering it in some way is grounds for legal action. Just that it's still their thread that they made.
