Other than The Lord of The Rings, what is some good fantasy literature?

I'm personally a huge fan of the Wheel of Time series. It's an amazing story that really builds on itself and just keeps you plain entertained throughout it. A close second is A Song of Ice and Fire, followed by the Sword of Truth series.

I gather from previous posts that you're primarily looking for magic and monster type books, but I haven't read any that haven't already been listed multiple times. I was reading through all these replies and was surprised that no one had mentioned these great series yet, so I am happy to find some fellow fans among us. There hasn't been a single thing I've read from Eddings that hasn't captivated me. If you want some great fantasy, give The Belgariad series a try. If you are sucked in immediately then I don't know what will get you!
