Hey Flood.
Has anyone donated to any Kickstarter projects since the site launched?
I'm really tempted to donate to Project Eternity, Obsidian's new project. Obsidian introduced the world to some of the best RPG's of all time, including Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Knights of the old Republic, Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas.
So, what about you? What do you guys think about the idea of game / music / film developers being directly responsible to you, the target audience, as opposed to some nameless corporation / publisher?

Wasn't there one of those with MLP fans trying to buy an island?
Posted by: o0MrCheesy0o
Posted by: EvilTaffyapple I honestly thought you lot would be all over a project like this. All we read on The Flood is about how casual games like COD and Halo are becoming, and how gaming is getting progressively casualised and dumbed down. Kick starters allow games to be made that take a chance to push the limits of what has been made before. I'm gonna stop before I get accused of being some viral marketer for Kickstarter...but I'm sad hardly anyone on here thinks the risks would be worth it.
Many have promised to make a competitive "hard-core" game, none have fulfilled it. Ever.
Like what? What do you class as "failing to deliver"? x

I've help fund 7 different kickstarters. Most are local artists looking to fund a new album/book/etc. [link]

I donated to Planetary Annihilation and the OUYA. Both still dish out updates now and then.. So I'm still feeling comfortable they'll be delivered.
-
No not really.
-
I've never went and looked for myself, but from word of mouth I haven't heard of anything that interests me. If I do, I wouldn't mind throwing them a few buckaroos.
-
I would love to donate to the Kaiju Combat game, but am not in a position to do so. You guys should if you liked the Godzilla fighting games, same developers.

No. If I wanted to invest, I'd buy shares in Apple or BP or some other major company. Not some random indie project.
-
No, and I have no intention to invest my money into something that could end up being a complete failure.
