There are about 50 avatars, right? That means a lot of people will be using the same avatar. Now isnt an avatar suppose to show others its you who's talking? That would mean it should be unique. How about being able to use (or submit) your own avatar here on Bungie?

Stosh said in a post that you have to actually make the avatar... Taking a picture and asking to use it (after changing it to fit they're requirements) might not be allowed... So far I submited one that I personally created Here (if link doesn't work, take out the http:// and try again) If you wondering why that? That animal is basically "my favorite thing" period... It's also where "General Fox" got created from.. Before I submitted it, I wanted to submit This picture, but as I mentioned earlier... I never made the picture nor know who does (so I can ask him/her if I can submit it ect). [Edited on 4/16/2004 4:24:43 PM]

yea i made some hot avatars/ buddy icons for aim for my clan, and i'll be makin more soon. Plus i got some sweet pics of MC flyin 80 meters off the ground after my modded flamethrower killed him. Haha, anyway i have some sweet pics that would be hot little avatars. but no way that we can have our own personal custom ones? Darn, but i could see how peeps would do -blam!- and shyt. But what good honest halo-fan would do something like that? hahaha, o btw that black/red monkey thing seems like an animation from the Gorillaz that band that came out with that Clint Eastwood song like five years back which i still listen to, "I've got sunshine in a bag" yea that one. O well, back to tryin to find my own post it went somewhere wierd in this place. -PBAssault

soon youll be able to submit your own for approval, they dident want to do theat beacuse people will be using pics of -blam!- and -blam!- men!
Posted by: Achronos The problem is managing them. First, if we let you link to them externally, you could easily break our site.
What if there was an externally created database set up specifically for storing custom avatars? Bungie could allow links soley from that site. [Say two stupid things at once]I'm sure that Halobabies would be willing to host the bandwidth, and the coding for only one site to be allowed would take mere minutes.[/stupidity] The site would have only pics that have no questionable content, are of the correct size, and don't have any hidden B.net breaking haxor code in them. Unless by break you mean the bandwith.

Web master hasn't been around for a long time. I think that that monkey is some voodoo docter or something. That's how he looks.
-
What are you talking about? That's the Bungie Webmaster! You would not be here had he not bestowed is gentle hand of mercy on all of us! [Edited on 4/14/2004 1:12:30 PM]
Posted by: Pyroteq The monkey thing, meaning that red thing with the ugly black monkey he is using. I would rather be using NO avatar then this beast thingy that has nothing to do with Halo.
I'm pretty sure it's an evil skeleton monkey, but more specifically, an evil skeleton monkey who is a magician.

YEAH!

It does sound very good.
Posted by: Achronos One thing that won't happen is custom avatars (an avatar that only you can have). Only special people will get that (bungie people and a few others, mostly moderators and VIPs). However, it is not out of the realm of possibility that we create "classes" of avatars. For example, we could make it so certain avatars are only available if your account was a certain age. Don't worry, we'd never tie anything to total posts. Or, maybe we'll think of something else for fanclubs when they get the "new hotness" treatment. Maybe I've even already thought of a few things that I'm not telling you about. With me, you never know. Plausible deniability is key.
I like that idea of special avatars becoming available after a set amount of time. That would keep some people from leaving.

good idea, but what monkey thing? Anyway, so far it seems i'm still the only one with this avatar! woohoo!
-
How about putting custom text over an avatar? Like choose your avatar and three letters to go over it. I would have R-S or just RS obviously. This way, every avatar would be truly unique (because no one would pick the same letters unless they were part of a chapter or something). Oh, and save the monkey thing for those who have been here for a while. :) [Edited on 4/14/2004 6:31:24 AM]

So! No one with mine! Hahahaha!
i havent seen any one with my avatar
* Whistles *

That's crap how we have to send in our avatars, I want to be the only person using my avatar, people would see my avatar and start using it and that would annoy me greatly. Guess I'll have to keep this crappy drawing of ??????? here instead.

The problem is managing them. First, if we let you link to them externally, you could easily break our site. So, that won't fly. If we allowed users to upload them - well, that bring a whole host of bad problems. So, what we're going to do is eventually set up a way where you can submit new avatars and we'll add them to the list of possible suggestions periodically (like the 7th Column Themes). One thing that won't happen is custom avatars (an avatar that only you can have). Only special people will get that (bungie people and a few others, mostly moderators and VIPs). However, it is not out of the realm of possibility that we create "classes" of avatars. For example, we could make it so certain avatars are only available if your account was a certain age. I would like custom avatars.
-
MAybe if we ask nicely bungie will add more of their own professionally made avatars.(i havent seen any one with my avatar(
-
how odd, it seems i am the only one with this avatar.
-
I hope this problem is addressed. I have friends that have the same avatars, and it’s very confusing. [Edited on 4/13/2004 2:09:46 PM]
