Welcome to hard mode Crota...you will require zero lag.

I'd first initially like to state that I am very pleased that Bungie decided to patch all cheeses prior to releasing the hard mode. It makes us realize who could and couldn't legitimately do the raid. But that's not what this post is truly about, it's about the insane amount of glitches/lag issues that come with Crota that could have and should be fixed. I'll start first with all of the [b]glitches[/b] that my team has encountered over the hours of attempting hard Crota. 1. [b]The disappearance of the sword[/b] This is pretty self explanatory, but after countless times of downing the swordbearer I would run to grab it and "poof." Sword disappeared guys, wipe. http://gfycat.com/PoshIllEarthworm 2. [b]Crota cheeses you[/b] This is a very rare occurrence but at times we would have Crota fall down into the middle. After this occurs you can basically say that "Crota broke his chain." Why? He will run up the stairs and into the starting room. He free romes wherever he wants to go, he doesn't rotate sides. That's a wipe. http://youtu.be/mbvOe2EsYEA 3. [b]Ogre phase? What ogre phase?[/b] We had times where the ogre phase wouldn't occur on time nor would a swordbearer spawn. We linked this to everyone being on high ground ledges in the starting room. Normally thralls will spawn all around you which was the reasoning for getting on high ground in the first place. If the ogre phase is delayed like this, you can basically count on having a second ogre phase and having to wipe. I don't know if this is a bug, but it needs to be fixed. 4. [b]You took Crota's shield down? Nope![/b] I don't know if this is linked with lag issues or something else, but we've had it where his shield is literally gone. Non existant and he stays up. He's immune to all damage (rocket damage and sword damage) until his shield recovers. 5. [b]Crota is down, but wait...[/b] I've had issues where Crota is still able to swing at you even though he is down. His shield is down, he is taking damage from the sword. He decides he's going to kill you while he's downed. I'm upset by this because they ignore the issues that would help us in the raid, and focused all there attention on the cheesing. The next part has to do with [b]lag[/b] that will ultimately make the raid unbeatable. During our first session of fighting Crota I was only getting 3 smash hits in on each down. I figured it must have been normal (maybe he stayed down shorter because it's hard mode?). That definately wasn't the case. And before someone says I didn't get to him quickly enough, I used invisible hunter while standing next to him. Ultimately this makes the raid almost unbeatable. Why? It takes 18 smashes to kill Crota. It takes 15 smashes to enrage Crota. Basically what I'm saying is if you have any lag whatsoever don't expect to finish the raid. Why is there lag though? Because instead of Bungie creating designates servers for everyone to connect to, we have to connect to our own party members connection. You have to find a host that everyone can connect to perfectly or you're screwed. We all know that if one person lags, you're whole team lags (except the person lagging? Lol). Instead of Bungie spending more money to create servers (god forbid they spend more than they have to even though they milked us for content that was originally not dlc!), we have to rely on a perfect host. What I'm getting at is you better hope your not playing with someone across the world with mediocre internet. Not only that but you have to have someone who can hold 5 other people's connections instead of everyone connecting to one server. I'm sorry not all of us can afford perfect Internet to play your imperfect game. There should be Destiny servers that we connect to, not connecting to a friend. Any other feedback is welcome. Please share if you've had any of the same issues or had any different glitch issues and I will add it in! Thanks for reading. Edit 1: Another issue was brought to my attention that Crota was killing him while he was invisible standing next to him. I brought this issue up in one of my past posts where enemies are able to see and hurt you while invisible which needs to be fixed! Another issue needing to be addressed is when Crota is moving he is basically impervious to damage. We had a team of 3 people shoot 2 rockets a piece at him while he was rotating and he wouldn't take any of the damage. Edit 2: Another issue I was reminded of was the Knights coming through the barriers before the start of the Crota fight. This also reminds me of an issue when the ogres spawned in late and we were on middle platform waiting for swordbearer and thralls on the inside of the barrier could hit us through it! Edit 3: Issue where Crota is completely dead (aka all 18 hits were hit on him), health bar completely gone, and died to oversoul. Wiped regardless of the fact that he was dead. Edit 4: bug where "boomers" are able to shoot through the floor of the tower where ogres spawn. I've experienced this in the omnigul strike where a boomer shoots you through the wall. Bump this up to keep it where it belongs!

    I'm so sad that you're entirely right, I have my 360 hooked in (no wifi use) and I drop anything I'm using that requires internet. Half the time I get the baboon error code or the weasel code, Which makes it nearly impossible to kill crota, because guess what???? Bungie though it would be a brilliant idea to make crota get up if a player leaves. Intentionally or not. So now I'm stuck here with my dick in my hand waiting for a fix. Awesome Bump bump bump

  • But fixing all the problems would mean that you beat it more quickly and therefore play less. Bungie's goal is simply to have you play as much as possible, so good luck getting the fixes you want. Sad, but true.

  • And most of these glitches wouldn't be so bad if; 1) Bungie cared beyond the profit margin. 2) They had developed a netcode that was worth a damn for this game. 3) They had properly tested out their product before releasing it for mass consumption. I swear, we payed them $60 USD to Beta test for Destiny 2...

      On #2, where Crota fell off platform. I have had one case where he fell off, but on opposite side (so into the abyss where players jump to self-terminate to wipe/restart the fight). The game counted that as Crota being defeated. Don't ask me how to replicate it. I don't know... it just happened one time. Some kind of weird glitch. We were just rocketing the fool.

    • Also that they only patch "chese glitches" but not glitches that makes it imposible to beat it, example crota chese only 2 weeks to fix, THEY HAVENT FIXED THE -blam!-ING MINOTAUR GLITCH IN VOG WERE HIS HEALTH RE GENERATES ON VENUS!

        • Bungie listen! We were having major issues with the death singer some times no enemies not even the crystal would be there. Hours of glitches and piss poor server connections we had to just give up. Could only imagine how bad crota would be.

        • I do know for certian that Crota will take shield damage while running but he doesn't go down until he reaches his targeted destination. Seen this done with tracking rockets.

          • Crota has chased our swordbearer many times across the bridge, way earlier than he should move. He would chase the swordbearer down, kill him, and then go back to the middle.

            • They dont want to focus on what make it harder to complete thier only fixing what makes them look bad first then they will eventualy fix the real problems thats why i play on tuesdays only untill things change a bit more

            • Sadly we'll probably just have to get used to the majority of them. I haven't done VoG in a while but I remember we all used to go in expecting glitches. -Only one person got teleported? "guys I'm alone again, can someone pop in and help" / just run through and wait for another round -Zombie minotaurs? Fire an extra rocket for good measure. -Splash damage in the relic bubble? Always be ready to slip in and out of the titan bubble at the back. Sure, lots of them caused inevitable deaths and wipes, but it became routine after a while. I remember one time we died suddenly from oracles halfway through the burn phase. Laughs were had.

              • Hey I would like to ask something... any of you notice how the more you keep trying, the buggier it gets??? idk, but it started super smooth yesterday and we died by a simple thing and started laughing...thing is as we kept doing it it was getting buggier and buggier every time. Going back to orbit wasn't working. Anyone notice this?

                  I know this comment will likely never be read by Bungie devs, but here goes anyway. This thread should not be taken lightly. It's evident that there are many, many people having the same problems. I have spent around 18 total hours trying to down Crota with no kill because of these very issues. We had a perfect strategy locked in and everyone played their roll without error. Among the 40 people I attempted it with (18 of which I had spent at least 4-5 hours with), at least 30 of these people have agreed they will not be purchasing any further Destiny content if this is the future we expect from every patch. Most of us know Vault of Glass is still completely broken with teleporting glitches still in full effect since the cheese fix, dispite Bungie claiming they had fixed the problems. These are not isolated cases though, it still happens almost every time I run vault. And now it seems those issues are totally looked over because the Crota glitches are bogging down the tech team on charge of fixing the game. My point is, with house of wolves right around the corner, are we going to continue seeing the same pattern and assume whatever doesn't get fixed with Crota will just stay broken? At this point, many people are starting to feel like this is going to be the standard and not the exception: new raid comes out, cheese is found, Bungie covers up the problem instead of fixing it, completely breaks everything else. It's like covering a hole in the floor with a throw rug - yeah, you don't see the hole in the floor anymore but all you've really done is set a trap for the unsuspecting. I totally get that Bungie has worked very hard to create these awesome encounters that get players working together to overcome a challenge together, and that's how it should be. So when people find loopholes and shortcuts, naturally they want to fix the shortcuts so all their hard work isn't completely bypassed and everyone will be able to enjoy the game the way it is supposed to be enjoyed. However, at this point it feels like Bungie is taking away what gaming is supposed to be all about: choice. Apparently gamers aren't allowed to play the way they want to play, they must play the way Bungie wants them to play. It seems like every time a "fix" comes out, it's Bungie taking a squirt bottle and saying "no gamer, that's a bad gamer, how dare you try to play the game the way you want to play it." There's a reason devs like Blizzard have a PTR to test and let the public find glitches before patches come out, and perhaps that was what they were trying to do by releasing the normal Crota first and delaying hard. But there clearly is still a missing, quality testing, step somewhere because now the raid is evidently unbeatable for many otherwise capable players. I am not delusional enough to think it's a simple fix and I know there's a lot going on that many aren't even aware of. But the current pattern of updates the game is experiencing is unacceptable and needs to be addressed before the next dlc comes out. TL;DR I love Bungie, and Destiny but I'm not going to keep paying for a game that becomes unplayable after getting "fixed." EDIT: Typage / auto word fails.

                    Me and my group encountered all these problems for days with all good level 32 players and still seems impossible to beat because so many glitches.30 hours I've got invested......

                    • Bump. Ive spent the last five hours dealing with this garbage. Meanwhile crota should have been solidly dead the at least three times. Weve put the 18 hits on him and he still has a tiny sliver of health three times.

                    • All the damn bugs in this raid are very frustrating. And I bet bungie is not gonna give a shit about this, like they did nothing about VoG. A new bug: boomers in the right tower shooting at you through the floor when you are waiting for the ogre to spawn.

                      • I encountered all the above and made for a very very difficult experience. The hard mode isn't hard if it runs right. The bugs make it hard because you have to rely on no bugs to complete

                        • Now this is a great example of constructive feedback. Wish all of the posts on this forum were this useful...but if the VoG bugs are any indicator these issues will remain for the foreseeable future. Maybe because it's good for Bungie's "hours played" statistics?
