Storage, Currencies, Consumables

I just want to point out just how skewed our storage has become with the increasing amount of items we are required (mostly) to save in separate slots. Although I believe that we don't have enough for weapons/armor, I'm going to focus on the *other* slots - since people have already raised the issue of those slots quite a bit. There are 20 slots in the vault total, plus your character inventory. These are the items that you either have to keep at least one stack of, or should buy/keep some when you can. Class materials (essence/wires/plates) Weapon Parts Helium Filaments Spinmetal Relic Iron Spirit Bloom Vanguard Commendation Crucible Commendation Ascendant Energy Ascendant Shard Radiant Energy Radiant Shard Exotic Shard Race glimmer boosters (x4) Telemetries (x9) Ammo (x3) Shaders (x?) Ships (x?) Speeders (x?) Emblems (x?) Class items (x?) Fluff items That's 25 completely separate slots, which means you literally cannot keep 1 of each in your vault even if you wanted to (some of those, like ammo, can max out and force a second stack). At launch, there were only 19 of those categories, and I'm going to assume even more will be added with the next DLC. There are several problems with this. (1) First, it's crazy complicated. Have you tried explaining the difference between the materials/harvestables/shards/commendations/marks/faction/glimmer to a new player? I left that without spaces because it's crazy complicated and makes very little sense. And that isn't getting into light level and experience. (2) The game is about loot - so your whole existence is about getting *stuff* and keeping/upgrading it. But then you get penalized for looting items, and you get penalized for getting rid of them. Not only that, but there are CAPS on marks/glimmer, so you either don't get to keep what you loot, you convert it to a currency that you have to use/lose (which you can't use because there's nothing to buy without wasting space on ammo/weapons you don't need). If there were no caps on either glimmer/marks and I could buy all of the consumables/materials with them, then there'd be no reason to keep stacks of consumables, but there are very low caps on everything. It honestly doesn't make sense. (3) Lack of equivalence. I haven't touched on this yet, but why don't the class materials work across classes? What is the purpose of forcing completely separate materials for each class? Just make them the same and you combine three materials into 1. I understand that you wanted to gate progress going into the expansion, and so you made completely separate materials and currencies for the DLC. Fine. But what's the point of having separate materials for weapons/armor? Combine the shards(plates) with the energy(weapon parts) That eliminates 3 more mandatory slots. (4) Consumables. What's the point of having separate telemetries/race glimmer boosts? Why not sell (1) telemetry that works across all weapons? (or, sell all telemetries all the time, instead of on a rotation - as is, you have to buy it when you see it and let it sit in your vault for weeks/months until you need it, otherwise you may not be able to buy it when you need it). Why not have (1) glimmer boost item that works on all races? Very rarely are you going to get a ton of extra glimmer just because it works for both hive and fallen at the same time. (5) Cosmetic items. Why in the world do we need to allocate space for every single shader color? Worse, I can't re-buy every one, so I have to keep some (chatterwhite) because you never know how it will fit with the next forced armor upgrade. Why can't shaders/ships/emblems be account flags and a dropdown list instead of inventory items? Speeders are slightly different because they have stats, but shaders/ships really have no place as individual items. Since you can freely trade any of these across characters and there are no class-restricted items here, why not just flag the account and reduce bloat? Anyway, that's my feedback and suggestions. I get that not everyone will keep at least one of these items, but most people will keep most of them and some people will keep even more. Some people have one character or each class (as intended?) and need extra for the individual class items as well. I get the reason that marks are capped, but why glimmer? If the game keeps adding required extra materials/caps like this in new DLC, it's going to become nearly unmanageable. Although most people are asking for increased storage space, and it would help, I think combining many of these "general" items would alleviate a ton of bloat and simplify areas of the game that are overcomplicated. Thoughts?
