This Game is a Chore...

I say this with lack of any kind of emotion. This game is in all seriousness a chore. I have realized this for a while but seeing fewer and fewer friends on this game, It is becoming more apparent. This game is a CHORE. When I log on It has become which daily bounties must get done. After continuously turning them all in It feels like, Wow. I have truely accomplished nothing today. I didn't even enjoy doing that. I just did it because it needed to be done. I gained no true pleasure from this and this is me after working a full 8 hour day at work. I come home and think about destiny and then work at home playing this game. It is no longer an escape, it's just a second job... Truely. Another grind in my life. There is nothing I enjoy about this game really except earning stuff. And then I think. What's the point. I'm not enjoying myself but I've been convincing myself somehow that I am having fun.
Oh well. Done with the grind. This DLC sucked and angered me greatly by not respecting my hard work and progress. I got my moneys worth but like I read in a similar post, I am sick of the goal post being moved. At this point I am tired of games where I invest my time because in the end my efforts are not appreciated. This game needs to invest more resources in a game mode that has more repay factor.
Time to go to a pick up and play sort of game. One where I just start playing and enjoy myself. Too bad there is no Left 4 Dead 3 but I'm looking forward to Evolve. Something where I come home after a long day and enjoy myself. I can't wait for more games to release on the new platform for both systems.
Anyways, I will be back to visit. Don't get me wrong. This game has potential. and I bought both DLCs already. (won't make that mistake again). And when I rejoin all of the progress you had worked so hard to achieve will get erased and I will be equal to you on day one of the next DLC...
[b]If I may spoil the next year of your life on this game it will be this.
You will still be replaying the same missions over and over.
The next raid boss will be an oversized Fallen captain.
Xur will still make you mad.
The Cryptarch will still make you bitter.
You will regrind the same exotics you just re-grinded.
The PS exclusives will come to xbox too late.
There will still be no raid finder.[/b]

Add level 32 Vault of Glass.
-It would add more end game content for earning two sets of raid gear for level 32 with raid specific perks.
-Have more armor customization.
-Have more content to do each week.
Now most of us know this is a shot in the dark request because the whole point of raising the level cap was to make you want to buy the DLC. But it's such an easy way to add more.
Essentially what happened is vendors started to sell gear at the tower that raised your light level to 31. That means they made 1/4 of the game useless. Why not remove the level 28 mode and add level 32 mode.
I would like Deej to at least see the sub-discussion here that we have been talking about inside this topic.

I feel basically the same way, but instead my friends continue to "earn" great gear while I just sit there and witness it then blink twice hoping I really just didn't get 7 strange coins from the nightfall then 2 energy from killing crota

Bungie is more comfortable with making you earn first downs each week. There are no touchdowns to be had in this game. Why after the raid, do you just stand there? No "mission ending" dialogue, or returning to orbit countdown. Go home Destiny, you're drunk.

2 Repliesit seems a lot of players agree with the OP. The game has morphed into a boring grind. It is as if, bungie changed their mind after launch, and decided to warp the game into something else instead, of course in the process they -blam!-ed over many of the people who purchased the game just a couple of months before.

1 ReplyYup. I regretted pre ordering and buying the pass up front. I had watched Deej and the other Bungie staff brag about this game in interviews. I read up on it. I saw the vids. It's not the game they described or bragged about. It's a beta. They are fixing this game as we payed to play it. Don't give me that crap thats what happens in MMOs. This games story is lack luster to say the least. NO LFG TOOL IN THE GAME! No one at Bungie has done this before. It's that simple. I still play. I am in a group, we are older gamers. We get together and shoot stuff. We joke about the flaws. We have all bought other games. Two of them joined me in FF14 ARR. We also started DAI. I just got Far cry 4 for Christmas. My nephew got a PS4, DAI, and Destiny. I am helping him out in this game till he goes back to school. I will play till my pass is up. I have a bunch of games to keep me busy. They have coherent stories, DAI has a lobby for multiplayer. Wow! I will be fine. It's sad. This game could have been amazing, groundbreaking. They dropped the ball.

3 RepliesYeah, i widely opened my eyes when the DLC came. I saw the real future of Destiny with the mediocre add-on to the game. The game stopped having potential, i think that Bungie doesn't know what they are doing. They haven't tracked the game where it should be. There is no story, the DLC showed us that fact. There are no new pvp playlist since the release date, every high level chars looks the same making you no special for your efforts. Hope that some day Bungie returns to their old culture of making videogames

1 ReplyAgreed. I got more games for Xmas so I won't be playing as much if at all. I may pick it up on weekends when I can play with friends and when house of wolves is released but as for the daily destiny grind, I'm done.

The people who got there early were called "haters", but they weren't, they were like you guys. I know, because I quit in October. All us "haters" wanted the game to be good, wanted it to succeed. For us, the problems outweighed the positive aspects and it hit us early on. It sucks. I honestly thought between Destiny and FFXIV, I wouldn't want any other games for a long time. Truth is, Destiny's failure made me go out and impulse buy a couple games I normally wouldn't have. I think I was trying to fill some entertainment hole or something, idk. Anyway, here's hoping to a brighter Destiny future, although I wouldn't hold our collective breath.

but see the problem is bungie sees that there is PLENTY to do each week since there is the strike playlist, crucible, story missions on hard(what a joke), patrols uhh speaking of patrols didnt they say that if u just want to go out and search the world for loot you can go patrol and see what rare stuff you may find - i pictured something completely different but fact is i NEVER found anything useful in patrols as far as gear well maybe back when i was still in need of blues lol face it we will never see change until we can collectively and respectively have an upfront, QQ free discussion that involves someone at bungie otherwise they will keep everything as is b/c they have just enough ppl who still fully support their current game structure i also think they have already finished destiny 2 or have most of it done and are purposely keeping things out of this game to be able to say hey look at all these new features in our sequel( i do believe everyone does this tho not just bungie) so over these next 10 yrs we will get demo game(what we have now),--> half game(destiny 2) --> maybe a full game(destiny3) lets all pray the division devs dont make all these same types of mistakes thats the only other game i seen in too long aside from destiny pre- launch that i was rly excited for and destiny is kinda a let down for all its potential =/

All my friends / former friends had stopped playing Destiny with the exception of one that I blocked and is most likely still playing. I was supposed to team up with a former friend who was a hunter, I was starting over with a new Titan not too long ago so I was going to wait until level 20 to team up with him; but he never got back in touch with me regarding the idea to team up and kept playing other games instead. I ultimately gave up on the idea of having friends in Destiny and decided to go solo; not a wise choice but I didn't see it making a difference since all my friends / former friends had stopped playing. My former friend who had the hunter, I told him all about factions back when I was starting over and at a very low level with a Titan. I feel like I wasted my time telling him about factions as now I am most likely ahead of him with a level 26 Titan and at Rank 3 for New Monarchy; where as he is probably still near almost level 20 with not even a New Monarchy cape at least for their hunter. All I want from Eris Morn are the shaders, but I feel like it will take me forever compared to New Monarchy faction and I have to pay for "The Dark Below" just to get the shaders. I feel bad for all the new players who will realize how time consuming it will be and how this game has no respect for the player's time. I decided I will need to keep my New Monarchy items even when they become obsolete, just for the fact I had to put in so much hard work just to get them. I feel like I accomplished a lot in some ways, but in other ways not so much.

2 RepliesIt's a chore...I think Bungie is banking on enough people becoming addicted to the grind (it's basically a slot machine). There is just enough content to keep the rest of us interested for a time...I find Crucible to be great fun, even though I'm not great at it...but after a while, the rest of the game feels like you're taking part in some sort of psychological test designed for lab rats.

1 ReplyMost games are a chore. A lot of older games had crappy endings that made me feel like the reward must have been playing the game, not finishing it. That said, offline games end. Online games have to give you something to do, even when you're [i]done[/i]. If I played any other game as much as WoW or Destiny, I'd be doing the same things over and over again too. Regardless of said game being offline or an mmo. Most new or expanded content in any game is just a thinly veiled rehash of everything you've done a hundred times before. Bungie did make a weird sort of progression. They're treating each tier like a whole new expansion in an mmo. Which leaves us with outdated gear and new people getting better gear from vendors. While I realized the level cap was going to make 30 gear obsolete, I didn't think they'd make the difference between 30 and 32 quite so dramatic. I did however expect 31 vendor gear, that didn't surprise me at all. Anyway, I'm not really defending or attacking Bungie's choices here. Just pointing out that I hear the same complaints across the board, not just about Destiny. WoW was a second job too and replaying Fallout 3/NV on my third play through started to feel more like work than fun. Even The Last of Us isn't much fun to play through again (for me). 90% of the thrill in that game was the unknown, now I walk around and know where everything is, how to avoid or kill every enemy and what to expect from all the plot twists. I bring that up because people usually say it was pretty much the best game ever (so far). Anyway, I'm rambling, as usual. I'll stop now.

3 RepliesTruthfully xur is the worst part of the game. Might as well remove the RNG system, because all those sweet exotics you got during the week, xur will sell to the entire world... On Friday. Not much point of grinding out destiny when all you have to do is wait till Friday.

3 RepliesI agree with you bro Gun Smith still sells green stuff to level 31s Shader lady still sells the same shitty shaders and logos Speeker hasn't new stock since the start of this game The bountys are the same every week Ship lady sells the same ships and sparrows Xur (allow the little face lift) it's still the same shit Weeklys are all the same and the New dlc killed solo playing Dlc strikes expanded the "can't be assed wwith this one..to orbit" Vog pointless apart from shardes and atheons drop Crota cheese central(but still like the raid with my crew) Maps havnt changed,just more aliens to kill I could go on lol..I say this but I still play every night with my crew,but If it wasn't for the good friends iv met on here I probably would of left
