Lizard squad is taking responsibility for the attacks yet again, however neither Sony or Microsoft have confirmed or denied anything related to the suspected DDOS attack.
Late last night they were supposedly paid off with $300,000 worth of private storage space by a private company, the servers were online for a few hours then went back off early this morning.
EDIT: Kotaku has released an article regarding the attacks - http://kotaku.com/hackers-explain-why-they-supposedly-took-down-psn-and-x-1675448709
EDIT: Servers mostly back up guys - https://twitter.com/ShadowRavenClan/status/548856703257960448

Are you kidding? My Xbox Live crashes every 10 seconds and I can't download MCC. My PSN is still down too.

Mostly??? Cannot even get back to the tower. Says it cannot find my fireteam. When going going to the tower??? When it works! xur is nowhere to be found and that is on Sunday, after five days. Bungie says the game works now, well, it doesn't My employer would have fired me by now. I would understand if miltoplayer would not work, but I do not understand what the limitations of a locally installed offline story mode would be. Other games can do it.

Edited by Grundlestump: 12/27/2014 4:55:48 AMWell, I know everyone has an opinion, so here's mine. The ddos attacks ended yesterday, according to Kim dotcom, who allegedly paid off the lizard squad script kiddies. So the ddos attacks are no longer an issue. What seems to be the issue, according to reports I've read, is that NOW, xbox live and PSN servers aren't able to handle the amount of people logging on. So essentially, users are forming their own ddos attacks. However, I can sign on to xbox live just fine. It seems to be that Bungie servers are unable to cope with the traffic being thrown at them. So, by that logic, it is actually Bungie infrastructure which is unable to keep up with demand for their game. I bought a game, which states that it can only be played online. When I purchased the game I entered into a contract with the company, whereby my purchase would guarantee my ability to actually use the product I purchased. Am I wrong in assuming this? The problem seems to be solely on their end now. I cannot play. There is no one currently attacking their sysetem. Their infrastructure simply cannot handle the amount of people trying to play their game. Bungie. I would like compensation. You seem to have failed to live up to your end of the bargain. Edit: I've been using xbox live party chat with my brother for the past 30 minutes with no issue. I've played other games without a problem. The only issue is when I actually try to play Destiny. Edit 2: let us not forget to mention their already bug-filled game. Anyone played VoG hard lately? It seems that 'hardmode' is more about fighting through the deluge of glitches. Or what about the new raid, which is so filled with broken script that the whole thing can be glitched? This is a great game, but come the -blam!- on, Bungie. Get your -blam!-ing shit together. I thought you were better than this.

This is old shit

I guess we all know who's online service is far superior Microsoft on my end was up within hours of going down. My psn ..... Well I'm going on 3+ days, of no destiny. And yes I love both systems, I'm a gamer, not a fanboy. I even love my wiiU. Every systems has its strengths, and online gaming or multiplayer exclusives is what Microsoft does. Sony has the best single player exclusives.

Just get Anonymous Activists to take them out. Would do them some good, and show them what real hackers can do. #donttakethisseriously

I wonder why people would even consider to DDOS attack an entertainment company... All they receive is more hatred, no matter what point they are trying to get across.
-
We should all put some cash together and put these -blam!-s in the -blam!-ing ground!!! Any1 know a hitman??? I thought fbi got these guys?

I'm f*cking sick of this, I can't even complain about the lack of service because maintance is underway? F*ck you and the horse you rode in on, this is nothing against bungie, just the lack of service playstation is offering, I'm done defending your incompetence and your lack of customer service, I'm f*cking done with it
