Any tips for a guy who's terrible at everything?

I use the warlock since it's the only class I'm comfortable with using the most. However, I'm just terrible half the time. Doesn't matter what class I use, Hunter, Titan, Warlock, I'd still do poorly. Shotguns are a no-go. Can't hit anything with them. Snipers are useless for me since I always get spotted first. Fusion Rifles, well if I'm lucky, I can actually hit something. Auto Rifles...well usually the other guy can kill me faster than my auto rifle can kill them. Machine guns? I'm as bad at using those as I am at auto rifles. Rocket launchers? Well if I can even get to some heavy ammo, I can get a kill or 2, but ultimately, there's a high chance that I'm gonna get killed afterwards. Scout Rifles, well there's more of a chance of me hitting something with those than with a sniper at least. Pulse Rifles? Tried it once, didn't work out. Seems the only weapon I can use efficiently is a handcannon. Though even then, 65% of the time, I end up missing because the other person's moving far too quickly for me to land a hit. Though my aim is atrocious to begin with. I know how to use the radar somewhat, but that doesn't stop the enemy from getting the drop on me. Grenades are hardly useful. I end up wasting my Super half the time or get killed before I can launch it. My melee is usually how I get my kills when it's a close range fight if I can land 2 hits before the enemy can. I've watched countless videos on how to improve, but none of those strategies really help much at all. Guess I'll always be a noob... :/

    • Just keep playing around my friend you'll find something that suits you, I recently found a love for hand cannons they have great impact and decent range so a fusion riffle or shotgun can't 1 hit you

    • I was in the same boat when I started. Really the only way you're gonna improve is practice. Lots of miserable, grindy practice. I had to do the bounties for thorn, bad juju, and invective all at the same time and it helped me a lot. The next week I did iron banner 2.0 everyday for like 6 or so hours each day. As a result I'm now much more comfortable in PvP with a k/d over 1.5 and I actually really enjoy it now. Practice does so much more than just improve your accuracy. You learn the maps and all the heavy spawn points and find your playstyle and proffered weapon setup. Just keep experimenting until something feels comfortable the practice with it to become better.

    • Practice in the patrols Like find a stationary enemy and scroll horizontally past it without stopping and practice timing Then do the same with a sniper Try for a machine gun with the focused fire perk keep practicing, even in crucible , try and get better you will eventually learn the skills to even hope to get killstreaks
also play it safe, dodge first shoot later
I laughed so hard. I had to check if this was a joke. An auto rifle is the go to if your aim is off. Hand cannons rewards someone with good aim. But I find them harder to use because setting up headshots takes more time to me. One important thing to keep in mind is your cross hair placement. Majority of players have theirs pointing into the floor when they're playing. The problem with that is, when they encounter an enemy, they have to lift up the crosshairs and then begin to aim. Keep the crosshairs at about your enemy's head height most of the times. That way, when you see someone you can start aiming and firing right away. You have a warlock. Choose your subclass based on how you play. If you prefer keeping your distance go voidwalker. If you like to get up in people's face, go sunsinger. For the crucible I prefer voidwalker. It has blink. You have to get used to blink. Blink is just a beast. If you find yourself in a bad position and you're swarmed, blink away. Keeping running. Make them chase. What I do alot, I run away. As I get around a corner, if there aren't too many, I turn and I charge when they're still charging at me. When they get around that corner and see me charging, they all panic. If there are too many, run and lead them to your teammates. Your teammates will pick them off one by one for you. A shotgun is the easiest thing to use, especially if it has decent range like Found Verdict. That's all I used until the last Iron Banner. Then I started using a sniper. I'd recommend learning to snipe. When someone sees your glare, it keeps them in check. And sometimes, they just leave you alone. Find a sniper that has maxed out stability so if you didn't get that headshot, you can fire two body shots quickly. That'll take them down. One more important thing is know your maps. There are areas on some maps that you have to be cautious of. For example going through that cave area around flag A on Shores of Time. There is a platform that people normally camp out and wait for enemies to come running through that cave. And bam, Icebreaker to head. You can even use these spots. If you're ever passing one of them, stop and spend 15 seconds there and wait. But don't camp - people won't respect you and if you get someone there, believe me, they're going back to that spot to see if you're dumb enough to stay there. Edit: A huge point I forgot. When you're in a 1v1 gun battle. Do not stand still and shoot. Move from side to side. Make a few of his/ her shot miss. And I would also advise watching a guy's youtube channels. Just search for Arctyc. He snipes alot, and those spots that he gets people, alot of people stay too long in those spots. I guarantee you that you'll catch a few there.

          • Bro i have some tips to help you out. 1) always prepare for the heavy ammo (Heavy ammo is a game changer!) 2) make sure you know the locations for the heavy ammo on all maps 3) always rush for b, or a spawn stall (aka sacrifice yourself as a stall so your team can cap B). Sometimes you pick up a few kills beforehand. (First bloods). I ALWAYS use the momentum upgrade for my titan. 4) get good weapons. I would have recommended the shadow price however it's now gone.. Either save up for the suros or get the new monarchy mark and get the vanquisher 8. 5) go for high intellect! Doesn't matter whether you choose discipline or strength along with intellect. Intellect is highly recommended. 6) get the best exotic armor. For the hunters it's either achlophage or the bladedancer mask, titans have the armamentarium, and god knows what the warlocks have based off of xur. 7) don't use a sniper in pvp. You will average less kills and will miss more shots using a sniper, meaning you must restock on special. I recommend a shotgun, or even a fusion if you're good at aiming. 8) use a rocket launcher. That way you have 3-4 quick shots that you could finish fast. Normally those who just aquired heavy ammo would have a bounty on their head. 9) choose your favorite class. The warlock's resurrection was really fun. I enjoyed it. However i switched to titan, because it suited my playstyle more (defense). Stick with your favorite class. 10) understand the concept! In control, the more flags you hold, the more points you get per kill. So make sure your team always has 2 flags. 11) focus on improving skills. I just came back after a month break of destiny, and honestly my first game was rough. So i recommend going to earth patrol and focus on headshots. That's right, aim for the skull! Kontrolfreeks help aswell. You can also focus on jumpshotting and aiming at the same time. 12) Jumpshot. In cod there was dropshotting. In destiny you can't do that so take advantage of Jumpshotting. 13) understand the spawns. Example: our team has A and B. Our team starts to take C which would FLIP the spawns making them come from A. Being a defender, i would rush to A and put my bubble down, and stall! 13) NEVER DOUBT YOURSELF. Anyone can do this man. This is advice from a defender titan. My stats aren't the best however i always make sure my team has 2 flags. Check out my stats. I have a decent KD and average around 5-6k a game.

          • In order to improve, you need to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your class. Warlocks are purely offensive, but are somewhat fragile in terms of armor. their primary objective is to do damage quickly and retreat, where their superior regeneration will allow them to be ready to attack again while their opponent is still injured. Hand cannon/ fusion rifle combo goes great with the warlock ' playstyle. You want to keep distance between you and the other player to minimize the amount of damage you are taking, fusion rifles and hand cannot are medium to long range weapons, and scoring head shots in crucible with hand cannons will wreck opposing players. The first thing you need to work on is precision damage. This is best achieved but fighting fallen and hive. Fallen help you with farther off head shots and thralls help with those pressure head shots where the enemy is closing ground. As far as techniques are concerned, try making your first shot without aiming down the sight. That way, when you aim down the sight on your next shot, you have less adjusting to do. Also, the warlock has the farthest reach as far as standard melee is concerned. So when the opponent inevitably gets too close, you should have damaged him enough to kill him with your melee. Finally, spam your super. Sunsinger grenades and melee are one hit kills when the super is activated (if I am not mistaken) and nova bomb is an instant kill. If you content lyrics look for three and four people to kill with one super, you will usually find that they will prioritize you as a target and end up taking you down before you can launch it. Instead of waiting for the perfect time for the whole match, only wait for about a minute, then destroy the next poor suckered you see. This is good for about 1-4 extra kills during a match, depending on your luck and your intellect. I hope this helps.

          • PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! It's all about experience. I played my first FPS 8 years ago. I wasn't completely comfortable with the controls and able to lead a team in PvP until about 2 years ago. (Granted, I'm an MMO player, not FPS. I know some of you used to merk in previous FPS') A few points I've found that are helpful: Remember we're dealing with Bungie, lords of console PvP. While some might argue that Destiny has fallen short, many will argue that point because they believe Bungie is capable of better. Which, more than likely, they are. With that being said, Bungie thrived off Halo, and Halo thrived off games like Shotty-Snipes and SWAT (No radars. All head shots). Bungie is crafty in their game development. Play the map. Learn the basics of the objects around you and you'll be able to predict how other players utilize those objects. For example, know what capture points receive the most attention and the heaviest campers. Outsmart people, and you won't have to outshoot them! Secondly, as I mentioned above, a lot of us grew up on Halo, thus growing up in games like SWAT. Destiny is primarily a head shot game. While most games are, you're still able to kill a lot of things with body shots and things of this nature. The purpose of health and critical hits in Destiny is to force players to aim for the head (or weak point) of an enemies armor. When in doubt, always aim for the head! Finally, remember to have fun. For the most part, the members of this game are mature and recognize and utilize all load outs that are available to them. Nobody complains about noob tubing, or running a primarily melee class, and those that do are often seen playing as Titans with rocket launchers. (My main is a titan. I am a titan. I was simply finishing the analogy of RL+Melee). My point is, go for kills. However you can. Someone stated earlier that you should run with the pack and even try to sneak steal a kill or two. Do that! Remember that RNGesus doesn't recognize performance level and skill. His will is pure luck. Use whatever gun feels the most natural, to start out with. And perfect it! This is as much about putting the time in as anything else. Even if it is "just a video game". It seems that your preference may be Hand Cannons and Scout Rifles. A very Hunter like choice. Maybe try running on a different character? Pick up all three and see which you do the best with. Experiment and test our theories and ways to make yourself better. I'm on 360. MasterBraude. Message me if you're on 360, and we'll get you started the proper way, mate! Best of luck to you! May the darkness soon whimper at the sounds of your mag reloading, as it does with so many of us.
