Have beaten him 3x from left and worked wonders for my team.
We tried the middle but we just felt constricted down there and never got in a good rhythm like we did from the left.
Question to you who prefer middle: how do you take down boomers? Who's your sword bearer? And what suggestions can you offer to beat him from down there?
(We'll stick to left, but just curious as to how the middle is done as well. Thanks)

Middle

So the right side is a viable option as well? Are there any advantages from the right as opposed to the left? I still prefer left because I'm the swordbearer and know my way up easily with my Bladedancer Hunter.

Left everyone every time

I've never had a successful middle try. Always do left. Hard part is luring swordbearer over and getting him down quick. Snipers can be easily controlled on one side. With middle the swordbearer has to worry about boomers. Unless you get folks up on the columns in the middle to snipe them. I don't know. It's whatever works best for your team. I've seen teams go from left to right in a game. Changing their strategy based on where Croat was.

Left side so much more reliable.
-
Eh, I prefer left. My issues with mid is, essentially, we're in a row. If there were hobgoblins or a sniping Hive creature that could get headshots in a row, the amount of -blam!-ed quite a few would be...
-
left side is a lot easier as long as boomers are kept under control.
-
Left side. Bottom mid for ogers. Take the long way around up the right stairs clearing the crystal room so that our snipers don't have ads behind them when we get back left.

Edited by TaterSalad: 12/23/2014 7:54:03 PMHave done both strategies and prefer middle when a Hunter isn't running the sword. Specifically 4 down middle and a sniper on each side up top. There's just less chance of death down middle being that knights can't shoot you there, so you don't have to worry about a sniper screwing things up for you. Thrall also won't come to the lower area, so you can easily lure the Swordbearer down there and kill him quickly without having to worry about adds. Also seems to be easier for the sword carrier to evade after attacking Crota. The middle isn't a really viable option when you have a Hunter running the sword. It's too tough for them to consistently make the jump up from the lower middle platform and instead they have to waste time running over to the side rock....at which point you just as well be running the left-side strategy anyway.

Edited by Jonesy: 12/23/2014 7:28:22 PMI wouldn't mind being on left side, but often we get players who have no idea how to handle some enemies as they sit fixated on Crota entire time and not realize that Crota only requires to be looked at when downing for sword runner to attack, but anytime that isn't happening, focus on the -blam!-ing enemies around you so you stop dying. Tired of players sitting there saying "he's x amount of health down, let's go guys" while I'm just sitting there attacking an army alone. Preferably, we have 4 middle, 1 sniper on right side as I find it much safer than left side due to a higher rock platform to hop on ledge and have full view of Crota and his health with the sword and he never attacks you. Then ofcourse, 6th player is the sword runner, usually myself, killing swordbearer with gjallarhorn as I have no need for it on Crota since I'm running, so I just down Swordbearer in 2-3 shots while team is in their safety hole.

Left. Finished 1 mid but don't prefer it that way.

Killed CROTA 2 times.....1 Left & 1 Middle. (I like left better)
-
Left.
-
Ran it 7 times from left. we usually kill him first or second try. My groups tried middle and gave up after a few tires cause it didn't work as well.
-
Both have worked for me, but I like left more
-
Have one guy on the right w icebreaker for knights, hunter goes invisible before picking up sword to hit crota
-
We go down in the middle.
-
Done it both ways. Liked the middle better.
-
We do middle... but seeing as not as many people do it in the middle, I'm not sure I want to share my secrets and our rhythm... we always beat Crota before enrage and he's always in the middle when I attack with sword. That's all I'm saying. Also everyone is down in middle... nobody is on sides.
I wonder how many minds that'll blow
-
We do 4 in the middle with two snipers up top.
-
Left! Its just more fluid, and like you said less constricted. The middle room is probably a safer route.. But I like to live dangerous. #GuardianThug

My group starts left. We stay left until Crota shifts from right to middle, then everyone shifts right to battle the ogres and thralls. As long as your two boomer snipers shift to thrall control, it's very doable and faster than going middle/below and waiting for the ogres to come to you.
-
We start off left, shift right if Crota comes left and back to left when he goes back to middle. For ogres, we go down to the hall where you first start and take them down in the bottle neck.

Edited by TACCOMGUY: 12/23/2014 4:16:18 PMI have 3 different Raid Teams and most of us run it primarily from the left (bottom mid for Ogres of course). We ran center to try and get that down so we have an alt strategy (in case you need it for HM) and we would either burn Crota too quick or all (3) sword bearers would chump the jump to Crota and miss a round of strikes. What works best for us is an Icebreaker dedicated to the Boomer Knights, burn Crota with specials the first knee and then switch to heavy rockets for the next round. I think G-horn works okay, but we have 3-4 guys with maxed out Hunger of Crota Rocket Launchers, we wreck him every time (HoC is also awesome for the first stage mobs, Shriekers, Wizards, Knights and Ogres in the following sections). What sucks about pick up groups for CE is the unknown of their weapons. If they can't burn Crota or the occasional Over Soul then the Sword Bearer is always screwed (because it's all about the timing). Lastly more people need to step up and learn how to be sword bearers. This is the equivalent to using the relic in VoG, being efficient in multiple roles will make you and your team more likely to succeed using different strategies (like center).

Left of course.

Left side all the way
