Warlock Armor Question--Opinion/Advice Needed

I have the old Sunbreakers that I can upgrade from Xur today. With the other armor I have I can get to level 31. Xur is also selling the Claws of Ahamkara. My question for all of you Warlock masters is which is better--The Sunbreakers or Claws of Ahamkara? I was leaning towards the claws simply because I have almost 100 Strange coins and it wouldn't cost me 7000 glimmer for the upgrade. Any insight would be appreciated fellow guardians.

  • How do you play the game? PvE or PvP? Sunsinger, Voidwalker, or both? Do you use grenades to control movement, or to kill with blast. I would go with the Sunbreakers if you play a lot of PvP, and use a lot of solar grenades to control the movement options of other players. They look great, but I just don't find them very useful for anything else. So my Sunbreakers sit unused in my vault. I would go with the Claws if you play any other way. Especially if you mainly play PvE....especially if you plan on doing the Crota's End raid. Having a second charged melee attack is HUGE, and can be a big life saver. Both in PvE....and in PvP. I plan on picking up a set, because they would help my Warlock more than Light Beyond Nemesis. Especially now that the helmet can drop in the normal raid mode.

    • Claws all day. Go sunprancer, thorn, Viking funeral, touch of flame, + str and be the DoT master of Destiny while being a shielded tank.

    • Gonna get the claws and vault my upgraded Sunbreakers. Mostly having scorch/overshield available when I need it sounds awesome for both PvE and PvP, especially as my favourite gun is Monte Carlo too, which has a chance to fully replenish melee on kills.

    • The Claws can help both classes, so if you switch back and forth that is a positive. Also, if you have the Heart of Praxic Fire I find I prefer that over the Sunbreakers anyway. In truth, I'm really having buyers remorse over upgrading my Sunbreakers last weekend.

void vestment is pretty sweet for online, the grenade on every spawn is priceless, and the extra axion bolt is very good too....for pve...the melee isnt really going to be a great advantage.....theres nothing that really appeals to me for pve...so i havent bought anything. I could of bought stuff just for the sake of it, i have the heart of praxic fire, but i think its overrated.....the starlight protocol is also a waste as you cant get 3 granades when using the perk in the subclass...doesnt stack...but it frees up angel of ight I guess for a bit of extra agility.....all in all....id wait for the drops, because theres nothing really worth buying

    • The Claws. While Sunbreakers are great for Sunsingers, the Claws work with both Warlock sub-Classes. That in itself males them superior.

      • Claws. You always will have an overshield with it.
