Iron banner disappoints once again

What's the point of having old IB WEAPONS if you cannot upgrade them to be post expansion. Bungie this is retarded. Bump if you agree. Edit: no one is talking about the gear people. Read carefully please Edit: bungie you should at least offer the option of purchasing your old guns with the higher damage cap. I wouldn't mind ranking up again if I have the option to obtain the gun I like with a higher damage cap.

  • I don't post much, and when I do it's not to bitch. However, today I feel as though I should a little for the sake of Destiny's future. I love this game and this, Bungie (hopefully someone from your staff reads these things), is constructive criticism and suggestion from someone who has played the absolute crap out of this game since day one. And you made me a bit irritated today at the onset of the Iron Banner. So, Bungie: a word of advice on how to handle RPG elements such as armor and weapons which are an integral part of our characters. In the future, hopefully. Never, NEVER take our progress away. NEVER! We work hard for it. This is what happened to my Hunter (my main) today by way of example of what NOT to do to us: after playing my heart out (and enjoying the hell out of it) in the last Iron Banner, I earned both the gauntlets and the legs and the Scout Rifle (couldn't afford the Fusion Rifle - because, for some odd reason you guys decided that after earning our ranks in the Iron Banner we should also have to pay A LOT for the rewards - which is hard to do with a 25000 glimmer limit). Now once The Dark Below came out and you guys decided we would like all the gear we had to be all of a sudden out dated, including Iron Banner gear, HALLELLUA a new Iron Banner appears. So I check out the new stuff on offer. Immediately I notice that you can reforge Iron Banner weapons. So I made the mistake of assuming you at Bungie would have thought this thru. I reforge my fully upgraded Ghelion's Scout Rifle earned and bought at the last Iron Banner (my favorite weapon by far) thinking it would upgrade it to the new weapon standard, seeing as how the new weapons on offer are the new standard, and figuring that's part of what a reforge would be for this time around. I just thought that you guys would have had the sense and foresight to allow us to upgrade what we earned in the last Iron Banner. That would have been awesome of you. But, nope. Reset my hard earned progress and lost me some difficult to get Ascendant Energy in the process and the damage is still only 300 max. Really? Nobody at Bungie thought it would have made your fans happy to a reforge of our previously earned and paid for weapons to the new standard after you made those weapons obsolete? That was too hard to do? Really? Then I see new Iron Regalia gauntlets and legs. Cool. Trashed the old maxed out ones. But, wait a second. Why did I only get 45 glimmer and a piece of Saphire Wire? No ascendant shards? Now I understand during the Queens Bounty that people were abusing the event for shards, so you guys wisely and justly took away the ability to abuse that event. However, the Iron Banner is different, and items are not mere drops, they are EARNED and also BOUGHT. So I got nothing for what I earned and bought (not even some of the shards I put in to them), on top of my favorite weapon being reset to no avail today. That's kind of a slap in the face. This is not a great thing to do in a game with obvious RPG elements. It was bad enough that you made everyone's gear obsolete because you didn't want to program a way to upgrade pre-Dark Below items (except Exotics) for those who may actually LIKE their gear and want to keep it, but stuff we fought hard and long for (not to mention bought and PAID for) in a special event became absolutely useless also. Even for shards. Not the best way to handle an RPG, by a long shot. I work hard with and care about my characters, my Hunter especially. It took time and effort to earn, pay for, and upgrade those items. I feel like I wasted my time. And that is my advice, Bungie. Again, NEVER, EVER take progress away.
