IB is impossible for those with lives.
How am I supposed to reach IB Rank 5 in one week when I have school and other stuff outside of the game? This is Final Exam week for me! Even if I buy the buff, I don't have 12 free hours to use it fully, so that's a wasted Mote of Light. Bungie, please explain your thinking.
EDIT: I know you're probably going to do it anyway, but if you're going to be sarcastic and condescending on these forums, please have the courtesy to not do it on this post.

It can be done. Equip Iron Banner shader, emblem and mark/bond/cloak. Pick up all Iron Banner bounties from Salidin plus crucible bounties and get that xp boost too for a mote of light. Play Iron Banner, if your team is losing continuosly, after the match go to orbit and rejoin, hopefully the team you join will do better. I played a few hours after work, over 2 days and got to Rank 3. Keep picking up the bounties and try to complete them on the same day and hand them in.

Just...don't play. It's really the easiest, simplest, all-around-best answer. Wait for the sequel. Maybe Bungie will be back on their feet by then. And maybe Activision will be dead. Pray with me.

4 RepliesHorde the bounties. You can keep up to ten at once now, so keep the ones with the biggest experience amount and only login for the 2 mins it takes to go to the tower and get them (until finals week is over). Then on the weekend, but the booster for a mote of light, play for a few hours in the afternoon, complete your bounties, and done. Rank five.

5 RepliesNot going to be rude, but I have a full time & part time job and each week the Iron Banner came out I've reached level 4/5 every time. It's definitely doable you just need to win ALL the time. But overall IB isnt even worth it you dont get anything good out of it.

Is it to compete or prove yourself ? it can't be because the game in a nullity in terms of competition (it doesn't even have a ladder). Other than playing IB for the heck of it I can't understand why anyone would bother with it much less be worried about reaching level 5. edit - can't be about progression either because that level will reset on next IB event..

1 ReplyUm dude please take my advice. Just 1 hour every day. Thats what i did last time Ib came out and i even started 2 days late. I had soo many papers due that week it wasnt even funny so i totally feel you. I got to rank 5 by the time it was sunday by like i said, playing [b]1 hour[/b] every day. It only takes about one 1 game to get half the bounties done, then another 2 or 3 to complete the rest. Its do able man, i believe in you :D

Start ing from zero i got half way to rank two off of 5 matches on wednesday night. If the tempered buff scaling is anything like it was in the first one you can probably get to rank four pretty quickly on the last day.

I've spent 3 hours with iron banner and almost rank 3 (max rank now). So I don't see a problem here.

I still have not ranked up IB because who has the time? The DLC just came out so I have to do Eris bounties, normal bounties, the daily, the Raid Atheon and Crota, the Nightfall and the Heroic... My character on the game has more of a life than me...

IB gear is only 31, waste of time.

2 RepliesLiterally pointless unless you want the two weapons in there. The armor is the same light level as the vanguard vendor so unless you need specific perks from the pvp armor I wouldn't worry about it.

1 ReplyIt seams a lot harder than it is. I work 60 hours per week and was still able to reach level 5 last time. Buy the buffs and play as much as u can and you'll make it. But there really isn't any point gear wise this time around because tge normal crucible gear is just as good imo

By this weekend the buff will be extremely potent. You can get 2-3 ranks in 2 hours starting from scratch. On Sunday and Monday you'll be getting almost 200 rep per win.

The armor is is same light level as the vanguard gear I think so it doesn't even seem worth playing to me. Not sure if there are certain perks with the gear or weapons though.

Since the DLC dropped they are THROWING Motes of Light at us. So buy the damn Tempered Buff any time you plan to play. Don't worry about wheither you're going to be playing 12 hours or not. 2. Take advantage of the stacking buffs. a. Do the Nightfall strike if you can....that will increase your rep gains from any IB wins b. Buy (and equip) the IB Emblems, shader and class items. They each give a stacking 10% buff c. (If its like IB 2.0) The buff Tempered gives you increases dramatically over the days of the event. More than DOUBLING the rep gains from any wins on the last day of the event. IB 2.0 dropped ona particlularly busy week at work for me. But I really wanted off the VoG raid armor merry go round. I also hadn't played in the first IB so I started at rank ZERO. I took my Hunter from Rank 0 to Rank 4 this way playing on ly a couple hours per day starting Wednesday...and finished Early Saturday morning. I took the rest of Saturday off while I debated whether to try the same with my Warlock. I then took my Warlock from Rank 0 to Rank 4 just grinding it out for 8 hours on Sunday. Didn't need to play Monday. All while playing pretty BAD PVP to start...and just "okay" (KD 1.5-2.0) but getting stuck with a number of bad teams, by the end of the week. If you can spare a couple hours a day...for the week....you can do it.

I'm hoping to pump out a couple ranks a day. I have gauntlets and boots but I want the updated gauntlets and auto rifle at least, if I can get the boots and sniper I'll be really happy. Was lucky enough to get the shader emblem the first iron banner. Then the boots, gloves, class item and scout rifle last time. Got lucky in literally the last game I played and scored the legendary banner heavy machine gun Jolders Hammer too!! Keep at it and don't let a few losses get you down, you still get that medallion thingy too if you loose. Sucks our rank is completely reset, would be better if it was reduced by half.
