Armor/weapon breakdown into "parts" for custom gear options

I think this would be pretty cool, I wonder if anyone else thinks the same. My idea When a piece of gear is broken down, every little bubble from the item's upgrade tree becomes an item that enters the players inventory. The player would also receive a weapon/armor "shell" that is now full of empty slots where its upgrades were once shown. The player then has the ability to use his/her collection of "parts" and "shells" to create weapons/armor that looks however they want it to look with the abilities they want. Throw in some limits on what "parts" can go where for balance. How it could change things for the better -modernize old legendaries and exotics -create unique, custom builds! -maintain desired appearance without sacrificing function I have my trusty old fatebringer, but now it does less damage than current legendaries. Let's take this Devil You Don't, rip out its "damage parts", load them into my fatebringer's "shell", and now I have my old weapon tuned up and ready for modern content. My concerns -overpowered items -too easy to obtain powerful stuff? The parts will only be as easy to obtain as the gear they come from The game was probably not made with anything like this in mind so this probably has the potential to create some very overpowered stuff if implemented without some limits placed. This could also make it too easy for people to obtain better gear maybe? Just throwing this little brain storm out there! Comment, critique, and discuss! Thank you and have a wonderful evening everyone :)

  • Could work but then people would just put on the best perks leading to op weapons though perks arguably would then become unique to the person but still! Also I doubt they would change there whole upgrade tree now and in a completely new way. But good idea
