Today I lost my grandfather, he had been fighting cancer and dementia for a long time and over the last few weeks he had taken a turn for the worse.
I was visiting him in the hospital when he died, he didn't know who I was and he didn't know where he was. He quiets down and I thought he had fallen asleep, until I noticed his eyes were half open. I called the doctors and they came in and confirmed my fears.
He was gone.
The worst part was how little was left to him. He used to be strong and tall, now he looked like a concentration camp victim.
While I'm filled with grief, I'm also terrified, what if this happens to me?
My parents are both struggling as well and I don't feel like I have anyone to talk to.
