Game refuses to get to the starting menu

I have been waiting for HOURS for the game to load and all I see is the hex pattern in the corner continue to cycle and roll. All other games play fine. (BF4, COD AW, PvZ GW...) Downloading the DLC appeared to go fine. Rebooting did nothing. Trying while my son was logged in, no difference. Xbox One. the pipe to my house is 50Mbps down and 6Mbps up and it is testing as full speed.

  • Hi DarkHorseSki, I apologize for the issue you are experiencing. This is typically resolved by following one or both of the options listed below. -While at the black screen, press the Xbox button on your controller -With the Destiny game highlighted, press the Menu button and press Quit -Relaunch Destiny OR -Completely shut down your console -Go to Settings -Go to Power & startup -Press Turn Xbox off -Once the console is off, unplug the power cord from the back of the console and let sit for ~5 minutes -Power the console back on and launch Destiny

    • "Turning off" the Xbox one, by default, only puts it in standby. This keeps several components active, such as cache memory, for quicker wake up. This also prevents "turning off" the xbox from clearing errors associated with apps open in the background, and with cache memory. Backing out of a game does not shut it down. Only by manually quitting an app, per the instructions, or a true power down, will you actually close the application for a true reset of it. Follow the advised steps to truly, fully close destiny and/or power down the xbox.

      • When I say "Rebooting did nothing", I mean "REBOOTING DID NOTHING"! I know how to reboot the Xbox. When we power off the Xbox, we also power off the power strip that connects it. It is as off as it can be and it was in that, non-powered, state for hours between tries. I can afford to do that since I gave up on the Xbox One serving as a media center back in last January after hassling with it for a couple months. Hence, it doesn't bother us to have to wait a few minutes for it to power up and get ready as it doesn't interfere with using the TV as a TV. Now, how about somebody stepping up with some useful advice and not assuming that everybody posting here is some noob.
