Commendations are stupid!
Why the hell did Bungie make it so you can only buy Helmet and Chest armor with commendation? That's so -blam!-ing stupid, so they're telling i can only buy one helmet/chest per rank?! Even if you do the daily bounties it takes a -blam!-ing week to level up plus most of us got other shit to do, we don't have time to be playing this -blam!-ing game 24/7 which will make it take longer than a week to level up. They also need to remove the cap on the maximum amount of marks you can earn because it's stupid. Bungie seriously need to sort this shit out because it's ridiculous

Need to raise the limit or kill the commendation by the time you get to the next level to get the commendation I'm over the weekly amount So I loose out on Half of what I have worked for I don't mind commendations but limit is too low.

When you think of it it becomes more cod cause at rank2-3 you have a legendary to work for

Because they can't give you NEW things to do, so they built in a super annoying way to make sure you have to do the OLD things over and over and over again

1 ReplyIf you have an upgraded exotic helmet or chest piece, you don't need any commendations to hit 31. Buy boots and gauntlets and keep raid chest or helmet. 36 light from exotic, 33 from boots and gauntlets, and 30 from whichever raid piece you keep. That equals 132.

Commendations are actually pretty smart. If they would have kept the old way, and made you reach say rank 6 to buy the new gear it would have been too easy for existing players and too hard for new ones. And if you have a chest or head exotic, you only need 1 commendation which is pretty easy to get.

Some of the more important gear require commendations and I understand the added challenge to obtain those, but I dont like the fact that you dont earn commendations until leveling up a rank in whichever faction at rank 4 and beyond. I think the fact you have to level up rank beyond level 3 to begin receiving commendations for each level is a bit much and penalizing the lower level players. You should be able to earn a commendation each time you level up a rank in all factions (Vanguard, Crucible, Factions). Its not really fair to hold reaching level 4 over my head before I can start getting commendations in ALL factions, at least reduce the starting rank level to like 2 or 3. I play ALOT and im still only lvl 2 on Crucible. I don't bounty hunt as much on Crucible as I do on Vanguard but I dont think its fair to hold equipment out on me that's not even for sale on the Crucible vendor! The armor I want is on Dead Orbit guy and ill probably be lvl 31 or get a raid drop before i reach lvl 4 crucible to earn the commendation and marks to buy the damn thing!

2 RepliesAt first I was like this is a stupid idea. After I put some thought into it. I got it, if they didn't have this in place your complaint would be This is stupid I reached level 31 in a day. the DLC was not worth it! This kind of stretches it out because if you are like me you stock piled all the materials so those will not hold you back from upgrading. I have to wait until Tuesday to buy anything because I am at my vanguard cap but I just have to find other stuff to do in the meantime and when Tuesday rolls around I can get marks and then work on upgrading what I buy with those marks. while I wait for Tuesday I am sure I will earn myself yet another commendation mark. Not a huge deal, some people dislike change and I think you are one. it is another hurdle yes but it keep you from not having anything to work towards. just my opinion.

It's stupid to jump from 29 to 31 so easy, but hey it's possible.

1 ReplyI kind of like the commendations. They add a bit more of a challenge towards something that you want. I was lucky enough that the Vanguard Package rewarded me the Titan fur armor. And I used the commendation to get the helmet. I still am short of commendations and marks to get a new weapon. Guess I'll have to stick with my Vanquisher VIII for a little while longer.

not only that, they cap your marks which makes it impossible to buy things in the first place..

I just find it annoying I'm vanguard rank 9 and you know I don't get a commendation for getting 9 damn lvls

I did it in 3 days doing all bountys gets you like 1/4 of the way plus nightfall and weekly plus a bunch of parols you get there really quick and I only play like 1-2 hours a day

Don't forget about the weapons as well. You can only get one per rank now.

Yes... This is yet another way they prolong the playtime invested by their players. Obviously they are hell bent on creating hurdles to keep us grinding away. I both love it and despise them for treating us like cattle at the same time.
