Destiny's economy, leveling system, weapon upgrades ...

For some time I've asked myself why is their glimmer in this game? It's pretty much useless because alot of vendors want their own currency and with the new DLC we get even more currency for the Vanguard and Crucible vendors. It's like living in the US and the Italian restaurant you love only accepts euro's. It just feels very weird and it robs the game of a good economy. The Fallen want glimmer badly, they even have walkers defend their glimmer drills. We use it as a currency and when we want to buy something we have to use marks, strange coins or even motes of light. We are using sparks of the travelers light as money, and most of use are giving it to Xur, a dark stranger we know almost nothing about. I say Destiny should build a new economy with glimmer as it's only currency for buying items from local vendors. Let Xur be an acception since he is a stranger, he might need his strange coins to buy stuff at his home world. That way we can buy ships, sparrows, weapons, shaders etc. with glimmer and when Xur comes to the tower we can spend our strange coins on whatever he has to sell. This way we don't have to worry about marks for the vanguard and for the crucible, but we just have to make sure we have the glimmer. That said, I think Bungie should remove the glimmer cap, and adjust prices accordingly. It makes no sense that you can't have more than 25000 glimmer, but that you can have over 100 house banners which are worth 200 glimmer. Without the glimmer cap we can have amazing weapons, ships, shaders etc. for sale, that cost more than 25000 and would really make you stand out if you could afford them. Ex. a super cool looking ship could be 500000 glimmer, or you could buy that cool weapon for 100000 first and save glimmer for the ship later. Also ether seeds would actually become usefull. Furthermore, vendors should be selling items you would really want for the economy to work. Because now the vendors only have junk for sale. Wouldn't it be awsome if Banshee would be able to level up your rare weapons and even be able to make them Legendary? That way you can use the weapons that you loved, and that made you legend during the story missions. Also the cryptarch could be selling decoherent (blue) engrams, that way you have a small chance of getting a Legendary weapon or maybe get a rare weapons with nice perks which the gunsmith can upgrade for you. And Eva Lavante could be selling rare/legendary shaders/emblems. Heck maybe even get you a new haircut. The Shipwright could be selling cool ship shaders next to the ships she sells. That brings me to my other point, lightlevels. If motes of light are sparks of the travelers light we shoudn't be spending them on class items or emblems at the speaker, or give them to Xur. We should be able to feed them to our armor and weapons, to make them stronger. Of course this wouldn't work with the light levels we currently have. So I would suggest a more classic mmo/rpg leveling system, based on experience. This has a couple of positive effects. Firstly people who can't play the Vault of Glass will be able to reach the level cap, and people who have reached the level cap don't all look the same therefore we can use the armor which we think looks the best and has the best perks for our playstyle. Because increased reload speed for specials isn't helpfull if you use an Icebreaker. Also you don't have to be lucky to get to the level cap. I've heard that a lot of people complain about not being able to get the last piece of raid gear after 40+ raids, while others have the entire set after just 5 raids. I think your level should show how experienced you are and not how lucky you were in your raid drops. Because we all know not all level 30's are equally experienced and there are times a level 27 can be better than a level 30 in that way. So why deny the level 27 the honor of reaching the level cap? Also if you level up by experience, you have a reason to play. Who here doesn't have played Pokémon and spent hours in a single patch of grass just to level up your starter, so you could destroy the first gym leader? I know I've. This also means that the level cap can be raised by more than 2 every DLC and that we don't have to get the same armor again to reach the level cap. Of course it should take some time to level up. In my opinion ranking up to level 20 is way to easy and it would be fun if it would take more time to level up. The last thing I want to mention is my hate for Xur. I don't mind that he sold/sells the exotic weapons, because the RNG reward system isn't what it was supposed to be. But it would have been nice if exotic weapons would have been more rare. Some people say that the exotic name implies the weapons/armor are from another place. While the name exotic does imply, if you read the description of the weapons/armor it has more of a feeling that they're one of a kind. I don't think Dredgen Yor had 6 Thorns, or that there were multiple Last Words. So I hope that Bungie desides to make future exotics harder to get, but if you meet the requirements for the gun, eg. compleating the raid, you have a better chance of getting it. TLDR; Please read the entire thing, or just enjoy the game. Please discuss, and if we and Bungie think this is a good idea maybe we get it someday in the future. Also if you have another opinion or suggestions please post them.

  • Also with the new update we have to buy an upgraded exotic weapon of the weapon we already have. This means starting over with upgrading said weapon. Wouldn't it be more satisfying and more honest for those who already have a completely upgraded version if we could just upgrade the weapons with motes of light. Because I can see it happening that when the next DLC hits we again have to buy an upgraded version of the weapon we already maxed out two times. The system were you upgrade weapons with motes of light, could also be working for your Legendary weapons. Since you can only have one exotic weapon at a time a hard hitting Legendary would be a must.
