A Suggestion to Replace "Oracle Disruptor"

It occurred to me today that a way to (further?) customize raid strategies and/or roles would be to change every weapon from having the "Oracle Disruptor" perk to some other kind of disruptor perk. Other than personal preference or plain old "because it's better", I don't see a lot of the other raid weapons getting used. It's a lot of Epilogues until people find the VoC; it's Praedyth's or Icebreaker; it's Ghorn or Corrective Measure. First, each of these perks would come with the disclaimer "Only during the raid" or some such to avoid altering the normal PVE balance. Now let's say you replace the Oracle Disuprtor perk on Atheon's Epilogue for a damage buff against Atheon, after the namesake of the weapon. Give the Praetorian Foil a bonus against Praetorian's, same reasoning. Give Praedyth's Revenge a bonus against Hobgoblin's, countersniping. Etc, etc. Some of the other perks could include against Future/Past versions of the Vex, against Gatekeepers, Supplicants, etc etc. Still leave a couple weapons with Oracle Disruptor, maybe the Voc or the Timepiece, whatever. The point would be to give people a chance at a specific role, which was much ballyhooed but not really accomplished in my opinion. You're going into Venus during Gatekeeper, take a weapon with bonus' there. Holding a gate against Praetorian's? Put the guy with Foil on it. So on and so forth. And yes I could see how it could become inventory Tetris for players with most or all of the raid weapons, but that would a) be a choice and b) not necessarily the worst thing in the world. This all said, it may be too late to change these perks now. If so it's likely too late to change for the DLC. But if the idea is well received by my peers, consider it Bungie? All I can ask. I now humbly turn my idea over to the masses... TL;DR Take the Oracle Disruptor perk off some weapons and replace with a single buff to another type of enemy in the raid so as to help establish roles for players; if successful, do this for future raid weapons as well.

  • As someone has mentioned. We had roles in the VOG against gatekeeper and Atheon but, Bungie deliberately broke those strategies with some bullcrap about everyone should know every role. Basically they wanted to slow people's progress because of lack of content. A strategy that has royally backfired with close to 90% of the games players stuck somewhere between levels 27 and 29. Even Iron banner had to introduce raid equivalent gear because the raid was deliberately set up to not give required pieces for level 30 progress. Bungies own strategy of trying to slow their players down is ultimately causing people to leave out of frustration and plain annoyance at their deliberate nad kicking tactics.

    • Titan Raid armor (I think it's the grips) gives you the ability to switch between oracle disruptor and praetorian disruptor, I don't know about the other classes raid armor though. It's a nice concept and I would like to see a supplicant disruptor of some sort but I can't see bungie creating one for any of the bosses. Also like you said, I have a feeling they would be against encouraging any sort of player role within the raid.

      • While this is a very good idea. Its pointless because the only place where it matters, Atheon fight, you cant Dictate who does what role. So.....moot point really.
