It doesn't have to be an argument, and you don't have to call someone a [url=http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law]-godwinslaw!-[/url], it is saying that as long as an internet discussion continues, eventually hitler and the national socialist party will be brought up. It makes a lot of sense to me and I wouldn't call it stupid, just kind of useless logic. It's kind of a play on entropy, where in a closed system with enough time anything can happen, even if it does not obey our laws of physics, because if it hasn't happened, you have not been observing long enough.
