Thorn's original DOT was 7 not 5...Deej
I really hope this typo in the update was "unintentional" too. When exactly are you bringing thorn back to its former glory and then some? Just so you know, I almost quit playing the game over this mistake because of all the hours and trouble that went into getting this weapon, so please take our collective voices seriously. The small mistaken blurb about it's DOT in the update wasn't the only thing changed in thorn. Thorn's headshot are noticeably less, too.
I still got to level 5 in IB with thorn because it was my only hand cannon maxed out. However, please know it caused me so much stress to be killed by suros noob who spent their first strange coins to 3-4bullet kill me on auto fire where I have to headshot them 3times. Why does bungie not consider this mistake a priority and immediately fix it?
Every day my thorn sits in my vault is another day I built contempt for this game and the game mechanics which can be altered without our permission randomly as the developers see fit. If we end up growing to like something in the game, it would be in the developers best interests to foster that appreciation not sh:t all over it by nerfing every weapon people like to use.
Edit: Recently I upgraded and switched to timur's lash which I got in the Iron Banner and it does way more dmg and can have two shot head shot kills but it looks hideous to hold and just doesn't feel as cool as the exotic I worked hard to get. I want to be touting my thorn again, not some legendary that is now better than it. I'd scrap my recently upgraded timur's lash, fate bringer, last word, and more just to have thorn back and then some.

It just goes to show your nerf WAS intentional if you leave it as is. You are liars. The DOT was one fun thing about this gun that made the post mortems with it exciting. Now you do two head shots and the DOT doesn't even take them down enough to kill them. WTF is wrong with you bungie? You claim something is unintentional but clearly was designed to leave someone alive after two headshots where it previously killed them. Hawk moon has three bullets per mag that kill in two headshot so why can't thorn be equally as powerful?

Please bungie fix my maxed out thorn so I can go back and kick Ass in vog, PvP and pve it is true the gun isn't worth anything now after the "unintended" nerf please fix and buff

+1 Thorn is my weapon of choice in crucible. It is near-unusable after the update. It's one of the hardest weapons to acquire and deserves the buff that has been promised for ages. If Bungie thinks they can play dumb with the "getting it back to 5" comment, they had better be ready for a community riot. We all know the DoT was 7. Not 5.

Nice to see this is getting some attention. I swear if bungie ignores us and puts the DoT to 5 then I'm not gonna believe anything DeeJ says from that point on, stealth nerfs are just unnacceptable.

I will only agree with 5 Dot damage if it will reset everytime thorn hits the player. With this, thorn will have the possibility of doing 2 headshots if my calculations are correct.

You know, I coulda sworn I thought when I first got Thorn, it's Dot damage was 9 vs 7 but, I could be wrong

1 ReplyYep totally agree, I was excited about Iron Banner until they pulled this crap. Now they are trying to say it was 5 Dot??? Regardless of them supposedly buffing it next week, they knew the day the patch came out that they "Accidently" nerfed the Thorn and yet here we are a week later and they havent reversed it? Sad and frustrated me to the point that I cant even play Crucible becuase of all the Auto and Shottie noobs running around.

Edited by mJORG77: 11/27/2014 6:03:04 AMi literally spent the whole night before iron banner upgrading it for the sole purpose of making it be full power when i started playing ib, you cant imagine how i felt when i saw the "3" it was like all that work was for nothing, and now the say it was 5 before? i saw a milion 7s while i was upgrading it i even calculated its damage 84 on a headshot 84x2+7x5=203 which made it barelly a 2 shot kill never mind 5 dot, even if they make it 6 it will still be a 50% "practical nerf"as thorn will go from a 2 shot weapon to a 3 shot weapon, so ir is extremely important that dot on thorn is not below 7 they could fix the typo on the 11-20-2014 weekly update or replay to one of many threads with a "we know" or "ok" but they refuse to do it for some reason, this should have been fixed day 1 in a "OMG ALERT WE -blam!-ED UP BIG TIME , EMERGENCY UPDATE" maner but they chose to ignore the whole community screaming about thon dot going back to 7 and make us refresh the news tab every 5 mins for 2 weeks, or when ever the next update comes, waiting to see if they will fix this terrible mistake or not

Oh man, I agree. I hated every part of Iron Banner after they broke the only weapon I liked to use. Can't believe they haven't reverted Thorn back to the state it was before and left us with Iron Banner feeling not fun, but awfully frustrating.

I agree. Please fix it. And make sure it is returned completely to its former glory. I say out iron banner completely. Had no desire to play after that nerf.

I also think they need to fix the mistake. Would love a reload buff as well but to be honest I would be content with its original stats.
