My Iron Banner 2.0 Review from a PVP Noob

I give it a 9/10, not that my opinion really matters...but I had a ton of fun and got some great stuff. I avoided the first Iron Banner like the plague, and after reading about all the issues with the level advantages and what not, I had no interest in doing it. However after looking at the gear this time, and the bounties, seeing that I could finally get some boots that were +30 light, I decided to grind it out. Starting from IB rep 0, I went about my task. I started seeing people get purple hand cannons and machine guns after each match, and even a ship! By day 2 I was almost ready to buy my boots, but I went on. By day 3 after getting better at Control and finding myself on some good teams, I reached level 5. I was so proud of myself....hanging in there with the toughest of the tough. I got my ass kicked but I also kicked ass. I ended up with the IB boots, the hand cannon, the machine gun, and I purchased the fusion rifle. I even reset the stats on my machine gun to my liking. The only, only thing that I didn't like about the Iron Banner 2.0 was: 1. I didn't have enough time to level up my other characters!!! Can't wait till it comes back and 2. I would really, really liked to have bought that ship. Even if I had to get to IB Rank 6 and spend 15000 glimmer I still think I would have bought that ship. Yes its ugly, but I wanted it and could not get it to drop for me. In all I would say it was definitely a great experience, coming from someone who is mostly PVE, I had some fun and got some great stuff. I want to thank my SUROS, my Supremacy, and my Titans hulk smash. A big F-U to all hunters with blade dancer and self rezzing warlocks, you guys are a pain in the ass!!!

I had a great time. It didn't start out on a good note with me. I logged in and had found that my previously attained, and long since maxed out Iron Regalia gloves sitting in my vault, were still level 29 quality, with no re-forge option available to get them up to the level 30 quality. Basically, those of us who grinded all the way up to Rank 3, painstakingly, with no buffs, no medallions(nothing for losses) and harder bounties, got crap out of Iron Banner version 1.0. May as well have started from scratch. I had to dismantle my gloves and re-acquire them and then re-level them. It was completely unfair...it left me with that "what was it all for?" mentality for quite awhile...thereby, taking away from the fun-factor in the beginnings of IB 2.0...you'd understand if you made it to Rank 3 that last time. In the time it took me to get to Rank 3, is what it would have taken me to get to, say, Rank 8 in this last go(assuming I started at Rank 3, and that there was no level 5 cap). ...but I managed all the gear available; including the ship and four Timur's Lashes, which I already had mine maxed out from last go around, and I bought the Scout rifle, the fusion rifle and already had Jolder's Hammer maxed from the last event as well...it wasn't too bad. I even had time to get my wife's character up to Rank 3 for her, since she was already at Rank 1 from the last event. She's finally happy to have ditched her horrible looking Vanguard greaves with their horrendous pointed knee bits...but she didn't need the scout rifle, since she already has Cryptic Dragon, and she's not a fusion person and so there went that. Never the less, I am level 30. I use two Iron Banner armor pieces, in substitute for my raid variants, which are now vaulted, but I still wear my raid helm and exotic chest piece(Praxic Fire). So, all-in-all, I manage to be level 30 while only using one Raid piece...not too shabby. I can now look a little more like I want to look and the perks for the IB gear are beneficial for my new found love for my maxed out Hardlight(extra ammo capacity). Recommendation/s Please diversify the bounties for the next time around. It will get people playing differently each day...for one. Secondly, do not include the Automatic Headshot bounty, unless you're going to include ones for pulse, hand cannon and sniper rifle as well. I don't know if Bungie did it to test out how balanced auto-rifles were, or what...but everyone using the same weapon type(specifically Suros), is not what I would call ideal, nor diverse. It was a huge automatic weapon fest(machine guns included). I don't think I landed in a single match where someone wasn't using Suros. I personally prefer Hardlight myself, you have to fire it in pulses, which makes it more of an art to control. If you just pin the trigger, as you would with Suros, the gun automatically becomes shit, unless the person is point blank. ...but all-in-all...Bungie should inspire use of different weapons, via, bounties, not the opposite.
