Working full time, usually play 3-4 hrs through the week, between 12 - 18 hrs at the weekend. Half of that time will be in the vog, bounties, nightfall etc I imagine.
Reckon it's possible ? I'm sure there's plenty in my (non 30 light) shoes so whats the prognosis doc ?

Edited by ShutterSpark: 11/20/2014 11:28:05 PMWell it took me about 5 hours to get from rank 3 to 5. Shouldn't be too hard if you never lose more than 5 games in a row and complete all bounties. I didn't even use the tempered buff for the first 2 hours cause I didn't know you could repurchase it.
-
I started at Zero on Tuesday and I'm almost to Level 3 (2.76). Buy the buff (1 mote of light, buy it when u know u can put in 3-5 hrs). Buy the Emblem and Shader and equip them as well (you unlock them at level 2). The best strategy is to play with a team of 5-6 (like ur Raid team), getting thrown in with ransoms may very well equal losses. Also, Crucible Bounties are also achieved through IB, so make sure u go in with both Crucible and IB bounties. If ur team is off, grind out ur daily and daily bounties and do Tiger strikes or glimmer farming (cause ur gonna need a ton of glimmer to buy the shaders and armor). I work full time with 2 toddlers and a wife who for the moment is understanding. You will have to sacrifice some major sleep to achieve this, if you have sick/vacation days TAKE THEM!

Edited by psychowarren102: 11/20/2014 11:18:16 PMI did 1 in 3 games...too much commitments to get to 5 though
-
It's not impossible, I used to angle wombats in my t16 back home, there not bigger than 2 meters.
-
I'm almost a 3 with a 40hour a week schedule. I would also recommend having the emblem and shader active as well as the 12 hour buff. Complete bounties as well.
-
I work anywhere between 40-50 hours a week and just from last night I'm almost a level 3, so yeah it could probably be done pretty easily
-
priorities. by now I usually would have finished everything for the week but I haven't. I can either grind my dick into the ground running the raid and MAYBE get what I need... OR, run IB till I'm high enough rep to just buy it.. I got from 0-3 3/4 in 2 days with about the same schedule as you, so yes 0-5 in a week on your schedule is possible.

It's not too bad this time around. Last Iron Banner was much more difficult to gain rep. Got to rank 3 last time, and now I am about 1/3 to rank 5. Will hit rank 5 today. I work as well. My problem this go around is the fact that everything costs glimmer. I was saving up my crucible marks for Iron Banner to return, come to find out that the glimmer I just spent on Ammo Synthesis is really what I need. I wish they would have mentioned the currency change, so that people like me don't go and blow all my glimmer 2 days before Iron Banner. I was maxed at 25,000. Since there is really no use for Glimmer in this game OTHER than synthesis, I just burn it there for the raids. SO! My challenge this time is less the ranking, and more about the damn Glimmer!

As long as you never lose more than 5 games in a row it takes 13 hours.... This Is also assuming you dont complete a single bounty
-
I'm getting 75 points a win and 150 points per bounty today. That's with the emblem, shader, and tempered buff..... Tempered buff increases every day. Who knows how high it will be by Monday.
-
its only possible if you win.. and most people playing don't understand the concept of actually winning a Control match, so good luck. Its not about kills people! its about controlling the points and actually winning a match... no win. no rep...

-
I think it is..I was able to get to rank 3 in two days. But I haven't slept so I may be wrong.
-
I've been putting nearly all my Destiny time (save about an hour and a half towards the VoG) to the Iron Banner since Tuesday and I'm rank 2, 3/4 of the way to 3. If I make it to 5 it's going to be close.
-
Edited by AsylumxX: 11/20/2014 6:27:24 PMDo your VOG/weeklies during your weekday so they don't cut into your weekend time - 2 full days over the weekend should be enough to get rank 4 IB.
-
I think it is. Granted you need to buy the buff and equip all the stuff that gives you extra rep, like the class item and shader. Having the nightfall buff helps too, I think. Along with the bounties and a lot of invested time it can be possible with a job.
-
Edited by Kage: 11/19/2014 10:35:46 PMI played non stop from open till well the next night and hit 5(from 0) so it is possible...even if you dont no life it like I did lol
-
I made it from 0 to 2 1/3ish just yesterday by playing with a pre-formed fireteam and doing all of the bounties. That was with probably 80-90% wins (preformed fireteam is OP) and good weapons for the MG and headshot bounties.

Edited by Mister2014_: 11/20/2014 8:39:10 AMI made it to rank 3 in less than 2 days. But it was a hellish experience and grind. Whats worse is everyone is joining IB to get lvl 30 gear meaning people who have never done much PvP are joining and are of course new to it and understandably are not strong with the tactics. Gun skills help in PvP but team work rules and holding zones and capturing is the key. I have been on teams with people just running past the zones to try and kill another player, or not defending the zones ie capturing and running off. Its frustrating. I think getting there is possible but it will be something that essentially kills you inside and you will never ever get that special part of you back. I needed to hit rank 3 and I can say I will never be the same again...

Edited by jerkcore: 11/20/2014 5:53:16 PMThe tempered buff increases in effectiveness as the week goes on. Definitely invest in that. And the bounties, you can knock a day's bounties out in a day. I suggest logging on to grab bounties at least, then save them until you can actually play for a while - that way, you won't lose out on them if you miss a day. Granted, the biggest decision is deciding between IB & VoG, really you'd want to focus on one or the other due to time constraints. You can get light lvl 30 armor doing both, and RNG can be equally kind or hateful in either one. The only difference is exclusive guns. I've got 2 other characters that are IB virgins, and I'll be in the same boat as you heading into the weekend.
-
do the nightfall to get the XP buff then keep buying the tempered buff and do the bounties while you play, that should help you progress pretty quickly. I'm in a similar situation, don't think I'll manage it though :-/
-
I got to level three because I needed boots to get to level 30, I don't really care if I get to level four
-
Started from zero yesterday, did all the Iron Banner bounties he'd give me, and reached rank 2, although that was after playing for a while on end. It's not quite as hard as it seems.
-
Edited by SilverSmurf: 11/19/2014 1:55:13 PMYes. Buy the buff every day for one mote of light. Saturday and Sunday the buff is going to give you even more reputation per win. Have bounties equipped.
-
Very possible. I've gotten from rank 2-3.5 in two days and like 3 or 4 hours playtime. Rank one and two are much faster and the tempered bonus gives 10% extra rep per day! Save up on glimmer though, you need more than the cap to buy everything :/

Gdm me Bungie i only wanted the gold spiral shader why is that blaming thing in lvl rank 5? is beyond ME!!!!!! still getting there tho buying 3 of them in a fashion
