why is truth so worse than gjallarhorn?
I don't get it they look pretty similar to me

In this case, against Hard Mode Atheon during Time's Vengeance it was ~12k. For Truth, that's the end of the damage. Flat 12k a shot. Respectable. For Gjallarhorn, that's where the damage/fun begins. Flat 12k a shot, followed by ~15 Wolf Pack Rounds, each hitting for 1112. That's 28k damage in a single shot, or [u][b]233%[/b][/u] more damage per shot than Truth. Now consider if you would, that you can carry up to 8 Rockets between Exotic Chest (Lucky Raspberry, Armamentarium, or Heart of the Praxic Fire) and Raid Boots. You can then Synth for a total of 16 shots. That's just under 500k damage. Per person. In under a minute. In comparison, 16 shots from Truth will deal just under 200k damage. That's a pretty significant difference, wouldn't you say?

Truth is a great rocket launcher and handles crowd control like a boss. If you have one high value target like a boss Gjallahorn is my go to for a rocket launcher.

Its actually depends on it's use. The truth is better for PVP because the rockets tied along with the blast radius make it almost impossible to escape if you're not behind cover. Gjallahorn is a million times better in PVE specifically it's use against Atheon in the vault of Glass. A team of 6 guardians had 4 players use gjallahorn, they killed atheon in 17 seconds with one portal run. The reason being the "Wolfpack Rounds", essentially more little homing grenades that come out after the initial explosion. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shKEaGBHVW4 Enjoy

Edited by rjdeLaguna: 11/7/2014 6:07:52 PMThe reason that people like myself believe Truth is better for pvp is because the proximity detonation combined with the enlarged blast radius combined with aggressive tracking means that if I blind fire a rocket in your direction you die. If horn fires in my direction and doesn't hit a wall or floor close enough to damage me with the initial blast you have to pray that the cluster will get to me then you have to pray the cluster will be enough to kill me. I have survived a shot from the gjallarhorn when the only damage I took was from a few cluster rounds. Edit: gjallarhorn definitely rules pve though no question.

6 RepliesI don't care what anybody says truth tracks enemies much better than g-horn. Everytime I get heavy in crucible it's a guaranteed 2-3 kills, It can even track warlocks that try to blink out of the way. I'd say that g-horn is more fun to use but not as good as truth.

I find that the tracking on Truth is not perfect. Many enemies (PvE) end up dodging it and at longer distances, it does not work at all.

Well when it comes to pve the wolf pack on G-horn does so much extra damage to either one large target or the surrounding enemies that your getting more bang for your buck on it and on every rocket and heavy synth you pop

The Gjallarhorn has the tracking rocket as well, plus wolfpack rounds. So anyone who is not killed in the blast gets killed by those. Also, it's far better in pve then the truth.

Gjallerhorn blows up and splits into 5 clusters and each cluster homes in and hits targets where as Truth just homes in on target and blows up.

Gjallerhorn is a glorified clusterbomb. Truth is an aggressive homing Missile and is the only Exotic that does Void Damage.

12 RepliesTruth is a great rocket launcher..... just not quite as good as Gjallahorn. Also, if you have a legendary void rocket launcher that has 2 rounds before needing to reload and tracking rockets, it basically does the exact same things that truth does without using your exotic slot.
