I farm the shit out of chests and mats looking for new routes while doijg patrols and using weapons I dont use much. I recently fell in love with my strange suspect that I got from a drop. I used my first legendary weapon exclusively the cryptic dragon for about 3 weeks til I maxed it out, then got a void the crash shotty, a void light/beware, zombie apocalypse, and the devil you know from the Vanguard for reaching rank 5 I think (not all at once, but within a few days of each other). Been grinding the last word and alternating light beware/patience and time from xur, and the crash depending on maps and bounties I picked up. I've found a few chests with multiple blue engrams, coins, motes, weapons,.glimmer and mats when farming. The best I've had contained 2 blue engrams, 239 glimmer, 9 helium filaments, and 2 strange coins from a silver chest on the railway ledge on the moon. I get pretty lucky on the moon and similar chests have happened on Earth as well. On Mars, i dont get that lucky, but will come across a chest or with 2 green weapons 2+ iron and glimmer. I don't patrol venus much unless I need to upgrade zombie apocalypse and spirit bloom is bitch for me to see for some reason, although I do know a good chest run. I also like to just grind tiger strikes to rank up cryptarch and discover new tactics for the weeklies/nightfall. I've seen so many exotics straight up drop at extremely opportune times. A guy in my fireteam the other day "found" Icebreaker right before the Archon Preist. Another player "found" gjallahorn during the mesh layers on Devils lair. Shit like that is what keeps me playing. I have yet to "find" an exotic weapon or engram in the wild, but usually get 1-2 purple engrams in a 3 hours session depending on what I'm doing. I haven't had a legendary engram drop from patrols yet tho, only in strikes or the daily. In fact other than 2 pieces of armor and the devil you know (straight in a Vanguard package), all my legendary stuff has been from blues. Another interesting tid bit -all of my legendary engrams have been energy/shards/motes, other than zombie apocalypse from a cryptarch legendary engram. Ive gotten the zombie apocalypse with same stats, perks, and solar damage 5 times now in last 2 weeks. I need a good void heavy so that's my hope/goal for the week. I try to set small goals so I don't get too wound up over it. You can rank up some factions, farm public events (which are always fun), help others out as you come across them, collect golden chests, ghosts, explore, etc. Sparrow surfing is always fun especially, however I've been told others don't see it when I do it, it just looks normal. Alright I've babbled on enough. Tl; dr: wall of text of useless info, my experiences. I tend to write/talk alot when enlightened.
