I`m most likely not the first or only one who noticed, but legendary raid weapons render exotic primary weapons completely and utterly usless in PVE. I mean who wants to miss out on an added dmg type like arc or void or solar in favor of stuffing an exotic primary with endless XP for the same result as you can have in a fraction of time with a legendary... ofcourse if you take the time you will still be missing that special dmg type.
So in a nutshell exotic primary weapons are just a nice piece of jewlery that gets outdone by a legendary (with the Vex Mythoclast as the exception)... but I mean come on.
As in many places with Destiny theres a severe lack of customization.
But why not change that? It wouldnt be difficult to add dmg type modules to Xurs inventory... like the sparrow upgrades.
Let me buy a void dmg module to buff The Last Word with... or arc dmg for Hard Light.
For all I care make it cost 50 strange coins, but it would be nice to have this, or a simliar option.

I primarily play a blade-dancer with Red Death as my primary, and because of that combination i can solo the weekly challenge strikes up to level 26. The Combination of Hungering Blade / Fast Twitch with the Red Death's healing power makes me very difficult to kill since everything i kill with my melee or my gun heals me completely. Also i use the Universal remote with the Final Boss so i can be either right in your face or half a world away when i kill things, which gives me amazing versatility in any strike and in the crucible. So no i would say exotic primaries are quite useful even if they take twice as long to max out.
