Xur Cheapening Exotics and his monetary system.
Hey guys... I was thinking about something.
Lemme know your thoughts on this... and if proper response, I'll put it in feedback forum.
Xur.. so many get bothered at what he sells cheapening the "exotic" nature of exotics. So I really started thinking about it. And I honestly don't think Xur is the issue here. I really think it comes down to his monetary system.
I don't want to get rid of Xur... but even I do feel he is cheapening exotics to an extent because it just SOOO easy to get them. So let's look at what his prices are. 13-23 coins for knowing what you are getting. And, 23 Motes of Light for a chance (a chance) to get something from an engram (that possibly you can't use unless you run multiple characters, or you may get what you already have)
It's very possible to gain a minimum of 27 coins per week. Then you have motes of light? Well this is VERY inconsistent. Could get 5 or so depending on how much you level up your character.
So I think about it further. Why is it something you may or may not be able to use (from a legendary engram), cost 23 motes of light... something MUCH Harder to stock up... vs., something you KNOW you are getting and can use, and costs so much less with 13 coins or 17-23 coins... and you can get coins so easily?
To sum it up. Motes of light MUCH harder to stack up, than Coins. Known Exotic Items cost Much less using coins than unkown Exotic engrams costing Rare motes of light.
So... the monetary system is causing the market to get Flooded with Exotics.
I propose a switch of the monetary system of Xur. Known Exotic items need to be more expensive, around 25 coins for Gear, and 35-45 for weapons. Exotic Engrams need to be lowered to around 13-15 motes of light.

I see no problem whatsoever with Xur? Who cares if everyone is buying Exotics from him, it doesn't negatively affect my enjoyment of the game. In fact it enhances it, because it means my friends will all have good weapons when we get together to do Daily/Weekly/Raid stuff.

Like your idea, also liked one that my friends and i were talking about where he would have a exclusive weapon andarmor for 100 or more coins that you could either save your coins for or buy the reg stuff he is selling

Personally, my biggest issue with Xûr is that if he sells Exotic engrams, I would like to see him Legendary Engrams, as well. I am fairly lucky, when it comes to the number of Legendary drops that I get, or Rares upconverting to Legendary. However, there is a bit of code somewhere in the game that says that the only thing I should get out of my drops are shotguns and fusion rifles. Strange Coins, Motes of Light, doesn't matter to me. I'd gladly pay my Glimmer cap for a Legendary Engram, just to up the odds that I will eventually get something I will use, and not just break down right away.
