Hi Bungie/anyone who reads this,
Before I get started, I want to say that I do not intend to be disrespectful or rude. I also apologize if I'm beating a dead horse. I doubt any of this will come off that way, but just in case...
Today I read a story on my news feed regarding DLC. In that story, it stated that PlayStation players are getting an extra strike mission for at least until next fall for the same amount of money in upcoming DLCs.
Wait....
What???
Now, don't get me wrong. I understand the marketing strategy behind exclusives and even timed exclusives to a lesser extent. Exclusive games used to be able to sell a console. Proof is in Halo, right? But that is a choice of a game for a single platform. You couldn't ask a PlayStation fan to give you money for something they would receive less of with Halo. They just didn't get the game. No baiting there... If someone bought a copy of Halo in a green case, but they only had a PlayStation... Well, yea. But a timed exclusive is exactly the opposite. You're asking one population to pay the same for something another population gets more content with the same price. For a year...
What I'm wondering is...
1. How can you think that is ethical?
2. Why would you choose to slap a large portion of your fan base for a little extra money from Sony?
???
I don't care much about silly console wars. Sure, you're the developer who gets to make the call whether what you're doing is right or wrong. Maybe you're still sore from your time with Microsoft for whatever reason. But you wanted into the multi-platform game. Microsoft gave you your start. There's no reason to be bitter. You may not be here if it wasn't for them. PlayStation or the Box, at the end of the day... Who really cares? And it's only one strike mission here and there currently. But what's to come? More Strikes? Will you make two raids in a future DLC and give one to Sony? Why? I could understand for a month. Kind of a hit back for the Call of Duty timed exclusivity, but a year is a bit extreme don't you think?
For anyone who wants to come in and discredit me, please know you only hurt yourself...regardless of your platform. No I haven't beat the raid. Yes I'm only level 24. No I probably don't have as much in game time as you. But I am a paying consumer. I have been gaming since I was in pre-school, but I have a family and work now as I'm sure a lot of you do. My gaming time is limited and I haven't chosen to spend it on this underwhelming game. This only hurts us.
I pre-ordered the DLC with the game expecting greatness. I have been sorely let down to date, and the hits keep coming. The DLC was my hope that I'd pick it back up in a couple months and have good content. To see the same trend is very disheartening. At this point, I am seeking ways to get my money back for this game.
Timed exclusives are stupid.

I understand the marketing strategy behind exclusives and even timed exclusives to a lesser extent.
I applaud you for your brief moment of clarity in that sentence, because you really don't understand timed exclusives very well. Let's break this concept down into something not related to video games so that we can more easily understand what is going on here: There is a company called XYZ Inc. They make T-shirts. They then sell these t-shirts to various stores, and the stores sell them to the consumer. One store (let's call it Store A) wants people to buy more shirts from them, and not their competitor (Store B). Store A makes a deal with XYZ Inc. All XYZ Inc. shirts you by from Store A come with a FREE pair of headphones. The shirts are exactly the same and cost the same price as Store B, but you get something extra when you buy it from Store A. This does not diminish the value of the shirt at either store, it just gives the customer something extra for free when they buy it from Store A. This sort of thing happens all the time... do you go into stores and demand a discount on shirts because the place up the street is offering a free gift with it? No. You either go up the street and buy it from the place that has the better deal, or you shut up. Same concept. EDIT: FYI, I play on Xbox One. I just feel that people are having a really hard time wrapping their head around why this isn't a big deal.

Xbox gamers mad at Destiny's exclusives on PlayStation makes no sense. Y'all knew a year in advance that Destiny was going to have exclusives on Sony consoles. Sony said it last E3 and last year's E3. Then before Destiny came out it was confirmed that the DLC will last for a year. Why did y'all still buy it?!? If I would've found out I was going to get less value for something opposed to someone else then I wouldn't waste money! Smh...

Bungie would not be here without Microsoft. They should have never have left.
-
I agreed, when it first came out and everybody was talking about it I bought it and you know,am not even level 30 and I can tell that this game is repetitive wich sucks and am dissapointed I didn't realized it earler, I liked the game at first but its starting to get boring with the same thing,I bought the dlc and for the looks of it am feeling regreets,am still going to play though since I bought it just to give it one more chance but I think its going to dissapoint and if it does am not even going to buy none of that shit no more.PPEEEEAAACCCEEE!!!!

If you played this game for longer than a month, you should not get a refund period. It's like eating your food and then saying it sucks and want a refund.
-
Weh. ;-;
-
Sony footed the bill for the extra content. If they didn't do that the DLC would still be the same price. You aren't getting less PS is getting bonus because Sony paid millions.. I don't get how this is so hard for so many people to understand.
-
Yes playstations get an extra strike of a disappointing game, I will be too busy playing dragon age or the division by then to care.
-
Xboners are not Bungies special snowflakes anymore. Sony paid BungieVision to produce ADDITIONAL CONTENT for PlayStation. MicroSoft could have paid for additional content for xbox but did not. Stop crying...

Exclusives are 50% of console wars altogether. We, Xbox, are mad at playstation for destiny exclusives, infamous, and little big planet. This makes more console wars. Playstation is mad at Xbox for sunset overdrive, Tomb raider, etc. This creates more console wars. If there was no exclusives at all, we would all be sunshine and buttercups. They're stupid. They just create hatred.

The horse is beyond dead bruh, it's a pile of crushed meat and bone by now lol
-
Im beating a dead horse also. But I agree with you for most of this. Also think of the 8 months PlayStation had to wait for the skyrim dlcs. Its just buisness.
-
Microsoft wasn't willing to pay as much Sony. Bungie went to Microsoft first but weren't willing to do so.
-
Microsoft is well versed in the art of buying exclusivity, you Xbox guys never complained when you were the ones getting all the good stuff. As soon as someone else gets it, it becomes unethical lol.
-
Yup Xbox should be getting love as well. I want this stuff the exotics and all that but well Sony tipped them a little more than microsoft let's say so now we are screwed for a year
-
It say no refunds when you buy in-game You Should have thinking before buying Sorry~
-
Shut up, meg.
-
I want some money for my digital guardian edition, not even a full refund but a decent reimbursement.
-
Everything runs off of money... And if you have the xbox ill tell you first hand that the extra strike ps4 got with the game sucks ass so dont feel like your missing out
-
I'm pretty sure if you add up every month we had to wait get dlc on COD it would add up to a year or close to it
-
Should have bought a PLAYSTATION, you're lucky the game itself isn't completely exclusive. Just be glad you even get the DLC.
-
The thing that is weird is when it came to PS users waiting for a COD xpac the turn around was a month. Ok cool. But a full year??? Doesn't that seem a little outrageous? That's a long time in the life of a video game. If Advanced Warfare or whatever game made PS users wait a year between xpac a while everyone else got quarterly updates, would you stick around? I just don't see much logic in this year of waiting logic they have going on.
-
You sir are an idiot
-
-
1. You knew this when you bought Destiny. 2. You won't get your money back. 3. Stop complaining.
-
I feel your pain and i already threw down 100 dollars for a gouged game even more ripped apart because of timed exclusives. Destiny is an awesome game and l love Crucible. But i wont be buying Destiny 2
