New Iron Banner gear now gives you 30 light...
Incase you didn't read the update, when the Iron Banner returns you'll now be able to buy armour that you can upgrade to give you 30 light, although you can only equip 2 Iron Banner armor to your guardian in theory, you'll only need 1 exotic 1 raid gear and 2 Iron Banner gear, or 2 raid gear and 1 Iron Banner to hit level 30. Basically its making it ALOT easier for people to get to level 30, which I think is BS. Again Bungie undoing all the the hard work players have done to reach level 30 in the raid and yet again providing no incentive at all for players at level 30 to play this playlist. What are all your thoughts?
EDIT 1- Try and think in the long term, i'm not saying this is a bad idea, but what after the event is over, and the game has thousands more players at level 30, what will people have to work towards then?

Yea, eat poo! Most of us have ran HM and normal multiple times every week and still not reach 30. Plus they are not giving 30 to anyone. You'll have to play the hardest mode in the game to earn it. So once again, eat poo!

What freaking hard work? Me and my group have beaten the raid twice every week and still need either a helmet or chest piece....you are just luck and selfish

Lots of hate from raiders about how all their precious time put into the raid will be wasted if IB lets players rank to Lvl 30. Here's the thing, and I believe it's the reason Destiny is such a great game: it lets players play it how they want. Love PvE? Here's the raid. Love PvP? I think Crucible fans should have a way to rank up and get unique gear too. Destiny is about trying to give everyone a go, and let them do it how they prefer. All you whiney raiders will have redundant gear when the DLC comes out anyway, and I'm sure you'll be able to get Lvl 30 without even purchasing it.

I gotta say this is a step in the right direction. Not all of us have the time to sit there all day praying for loot. The PvE system of getting to 30 via the raid still doesnt help me though. I dont really understand why they dont just add matchmaking as an option. Then you'd be able to at least try for the loot at the bery least if your unable to have friends that are on the same time as you or even have friends that play the game.

But god forbid they put out new content and raise the level cap so you bitch about all your effort at 70 being worthless. As I figure you will probably do here when they finally raise the level

1 ReplyI think Iron banner is only Chest and arms. If so you need raid boots and an exotic helmet to reach 30. The best raid pieces are the gloves and helmet and the helmet only drops on hard. You'll be light level 30 but have none of the benefits that come with actually getting it through raiding. What this will do however is give you a leg up when the next raid [i]Crota's End[/i] drops if it has an entry lvl of 30.

Hard work? I've completed the raid 5 or 6 times now, only one piece of gear..being randomly given something doesn't equate to hard work. If anything grinding out Iron Banner Rep is 'harder' than flying through vog.

This buff to the Iron Banner is so they can catch people up enough to get them ready for the Hive Raid. Thus selling more DLC. Unfortunately I find the Raid too choreographed to be fun a second time around. And they expect us to do it 50 times to get raid weapons and armour. Also, all the current raid gear is geared specifically towards the VoG so it will be totally useless during the Hive Raid. I don't feel like levelling another set of raid gear over the same boring missions. DLC has to generate some stellar reviews or it's an obvious no go at this point.

2 RepliesI think there should be two ways to hit level 30. 1. PVE route, by playing tons of PvE and getting the raid gear that should be a way to get level 30. 2. PvP route, by investing in the crucible you should have a way to get to level 30 through elite PvP gear. Both should take the same amount of skill and investment to get. Now level 30 is the current level cap however with what data miners have found and previous MMO and other games have shown is there is a level cap increase to extend the life of the game. Such as the level 28 normal raid that's incoming eventually. Which to me is a strong hint that a level cap is coming.

Iron banner better have leg piece atleast. Im sitting on an exotic for all 3 pieces and 2 pieces of raid gear. I deserve level 30!

One week, one of our group had to drop out, so we invited a clan mate to join who'd never even played the raid before to help us finish off Atheon. When we were finished, he received raid boots while no one who'd played from start to finish had received a single piece of gear. Plenty of people have beaten the raid dozens of times and received bad drops while others received lucky drops early on or leveled up 3 of the same class and cheesed the system by swapping gear between characters for additional drops. The new IB will actually reward people who have diversified classes, legitimately leveled them up to 29, and have put just as much time and effort into the game as people like yourself but have received little favor from the RNG. Plus, some people spend a lot more time in PvP, so why should they be penalized from leveling up just because they prefer to pour hours into that mode of play instead of grinding in PvE?

I should be rewarded for both. You do still need the raid gear... and all the hard work? It takes one night to learn the raid then you can beat it in 2 hours or less. So 2 hours a week you need to spend to try for raid gear. Crucible takes HOURS and HOURS to get to rep 5. So what the problem is? Edit: new content so im not too worried about thousands at lvl 30 cause there will always be something new that u need to put time into to work toward

Can we please cut the "hard work" BS. Hard work means nothing in an RNG system. I know 30s who have 2 raid clears on normal and 29s who have double digit clears. Hard work means squat when it's all luck.

It's not like it's ''free'' you still have to put more time into Crucible than into Raid. Let's be real, Raid is insanely easy.

How about recalling that this game is designed around a dual tactic approach, where you're supposed to be able to PVP to your hearts content, and still advance. It's part of the game.. Deal with it.

1 ReplyAt least you have to win games to earn the gear. I'm sure you worked so hard pushing the Templar/Atheon off the map. Yea, everyone really EARNED their raid gear lol. Not to mention how random and broken the drops are. They are fixing that error.

Reaching 30 wasn't hard. Grinding through the last Iron Banner event to Rank 3 was. Besides, some people hate PvE, but love PvP; and visa versa. It's good that they're catering to both crowds.
