Deej: The truth, critical thinking, and final argument.

I have watched this video in its entirety. I realize it is long, but unlike pro Destiny/Activision rhetoric, the truth is a little more complex, and you not taking the time to understand what is going on is what they are counting on. What we have here is the ultimate anti-fanboi argument. Contained in this video is every thing we critical thinkers have been trying to express, only to be freight trained by the deluded masses. The masses: those of us who have successfully been indoctrinated by the Lord of Profiteering: Activision. Why do people persist in defending what has taken place here? It could simply be lack of intelligence or the ability to critically think, but more likely it is pride: The fanboi ego cannot admit to the truths in this video, it has gone too far for him, in his mind there is no way back. Humility is not a word in his vernacular. In a world where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, we are brainwashed via corporately owned news outlets (see: Fox News, any Murdoch newspaper) to blame each other for the situation instead of looking at those in power, those with the wealth controlling every thing. Profit is increasingly becoming a dirty word. Or at least it should be. To all the nay sayers, i give you this: You have been conditioned to disagree with the rhetoric you see here. They have achieved this because they are smarter than you. Swallow your pride and open your mind. It is time to become a critical thinker, not just a consumer, with 2D personality. For a better understanding of how corporations have become so powerful Government cannot control them, and how they are shafting us in every market we participate in, i recommend a Youtube channel called "The Trews" by a critical thinker called Russel Brand (previously a comedian). Profit has now fully infected the games market, that is why $500 million buys us a gutted husk of a game such as Destiny, Watchdogs, Titanfall and others. To Deej i say (as he is apparently reading all this): please let your bosses know that we know what occurred here. EDIT 1: To those saying i jumped on some sort of bandwagon with this video, here i link my previous thread, some weeks old, in which i make a weak effort in tackling this subject: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/71096924/0/0 EDIT 2: It's a tough challenge, trying to protect people who fight to defend the system hurting them. EDIT 3: All big business is owned by the 1%. And thusly they don't care where you spend your money, as long as you do. The power of consumer choice is a lie. Pick up your Destiny box and read the back, it literally says "rich cinematic story telling". Can you see the problem there? EDIT 4: Best insult received: "Also, I find your username hilariously perfect. Do you refer to your house as "The Superiority Complex"?" lel Final Edit: I have just read the details of The Dark Below, and it will not fix the inherent failures of this game. They are pushing forward with this hacked up iteration of Destiny. They sold us one game, delivered another, and for better or for worse this is it now. It is a game aimed at the 12yr olds, the CoD generation, and I am out. I will boost friends in the raid only until I can trade this in for GTA V. See you Manhattan-side for The Divison, Guardians!

  • This is so far a lot of speculation. All I'm seeing is a lot of guess work really. How do you know "Old Chicago" wasn't cut and renamed into "Old Russia?" Downloading large files is an issue for people and places around the world. If they could insert some of the play area that are already on the planets we know, why not do it to prevent MASSIVE downloads later on? No doubt certain items were unnecessarily cut to be placed into expansion packs is very plausible. But to assume that Bungie could develop an expansion pack within 6 months if likely not possible. "Out here in the wild, this is how we talk." How do you know that was supposed to be in the game. That could have been an internal demonstration/example video made to experiment. Have you never heard of the "Director's Cut" in film. To think this does not happen with videogames in 2014 is a silly notion. Also, after artists, both paper and CG, are completed with their work, of course they are going to continue on what is next, including DLC ideas. Trading was scrapped by Bungie as they have already said they wanted people to get gear from the content, PvE & PvP. I stopped watching 10 mins in as all I saw was a bunch of speculation and conjecture. Simply using the word "fact" does not make everything that follows that word a fact. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That all being said, Destiny was not the game I thought it would be either. I am disappointed in many aspects of the game but as of yet, 2 months into gameplay, I am yet to get bored. I do feel your pain @superiority but I don't accept many of your opinions and "facts". Also, to think Bungie was ignorant to understand that Activision would want proper DLC is just foolish. They are big boys and understand at the end of the day everyone needs to get paid. See you StarSide brother (and The Divison-side). Alpha Threat

    • Watched the entire thing. I would normally be the first to defend bungie because I actually don't mind destiny. But I have to say that If that is in fact what bungie did, I'm disappointed. Id just like to add that joe staten went back to Microsoft. Sounds like he spat it and just went back to halo. Fuel on the fire haha but bungie seriously need to start talking. I'm running out of things to do in this game and it's only hope that keeps me playing. Because after all there basically isn't even a story. If this next dlc content has any of the things promised before release it's going to be bitter sweet that's for sure.

      • *sniff sniff* Is anyone else smelling Corporate Conspiracy Theory, or is it just me? Dude, I hate to break it to you, but profit is kind of the American Dream. If you don't want companies to profit excessively, don't buy their product. If you feel like you should be entitled to everything upfront (minimum output-maximum return), then join the corporate world, climb that ladder, and become the 1% or try moving to a socialist/communist nation and complain about how you're no longer allowed to have anything because everyone has to have the same things. This is how the world works, and the only person cheating anyone else is you cheating yourself by not recognizing that you live in a capitalist system. Again, if you don't like it, don't participate. I, for one, recognize and just don't give a flying f***. I wanted Destiny, and knew well ahead of time that I was paying for DLC later on, and I'm not complaining because that is EXACTLY what is happening. Someday, when you grow up and have bills to pay and participate as an active member of society, you'll understand. But, for now, dude, enjoy your youth and delusions. They'll be gone all too soon.

          • I think you are are misunderstanding what most "fanboys" think. Everyone knows this game has been gutted and not what so many die hard halo fans wanted. The fact is we know Bungie sold out. Even with all this info, there's nothing we can do to change how capitalism works. We play the game because we like it for what it is and we will move on to other games when we get bored. You people who keep shouting conspiracy are just yelling at a wall.

            • I watched the video. I appreciate the message being spoken. I was never going to buy the DLC, I didn't even pay for Destiny. It was a gift from someone who knew I needed a way to kill time til Dragon Age came out. The issue I have is you really can't fight corporate giants. Will me not purchasing lacklustre DLC be noticed? No. I would love to fight the dumbing down of video games. I feel there are still developers out there that want to give us the best experience possible. But it just doesn't matter. Every year, a new Call of Duty will be released and it will break sales records. There is no stopping it because most people just don't care. It's sad, but it's true. We will never win. Destiny is not a bad game. The gameplay mechanics are phenomenal, as they should be. The game was made by the godfather of shooters. I enjoy playing the game, it's a good way to kill a couple hours after work. Destiny is a disappointing game, a mediocre effort that never could have lived up to its own hype. My message to all the gamers I know has been the same: Don't waste money on it. Borrow it from a friend, shoot things for an hour or two, move on to something better worth your investment. This is essentially what I will be doing a month from now.

              • haha just watched the video again as i am inclined to do, and boy, BungieVision really -blam!-ed up this IP. For profit. You can no longer think of Bungie as the amazing company that brought us the magic of Halo, because most of the key people involved in that magic have left the company because of this gutting of Destiny. What is left is a shitty husk of a game development company now set to churn out watered down games aimed at 12 years old, for max profit and sales figures bragging rights. They now make, like DICE, the Candy Crush equivalent of FPS shooters.

Issue 1: You don't know how gambling works in games like this. Issue 2: You assume Bungie left content out, I assume they had too big a scope and their eyes were too big for their development team. Issue 3: You assume children need simplicity. Issue 4: You're quite rude.

                  • The thing about the lead story writer leaving shortly before the release of the game he worked on since the days of Halo 2 was pretty suspicious back then already. Two most important members of the Bungie staff left (refering to Martin o'Donnell ... more like kicked in that case) the Studio quite unexplained and sudden. The community can only speculate on this (as far as I know). Surely that had a great impact on the development of the game.

                    • Of course there is the power of consumer choice. Video games are not a necessity, at no point does anyone need to buy them. So the fact we do sends a message. If you dont want the game or are dissatisfied, sell it and dont buy bungie again. You bought into the hype and made really high expectations, thus you will be dissapointed. Maybe next time dont listen to the hype so much. 60 dollars is not a lot for entertainment. I can spend that in a night of drinking. Yet here i am, still playing a game i bought in September and having a blast. Its a gpod value. When the cost to value ratio switches, i stop buying games.... pretty simple

                      • Anti-corporate, anti-rich hippy. lol. Indoctrinated by Activision? You have what I like to call "corporation derangement syndrome". If your kid gets hit by a car it's really a corporate plot to make a profit. Corporations are owned by the shareholders. Everybody who owns a single share of stock partly owns that "big business". It's not all owned by the "1%". Whatever that 1% even is. Big bad rich people? You aren't a critical thinker Sup. You're probably at collage and have yourself been indoctrinated by crazy professors there. The type of professors that would have starved to death long ago if it weren't for collages. The same thing happened to my aunt and it has happened and will happen to many more.
