I feel like post level 24+ equipment is lacking in the visual department because the game basically forces everyone to wear the same scarce sets of legendary and exotic gear. The game also has a lot of really cool looking, lower-tier equipment (oversized Titan shoulder armor anyone?) we can never use again post level 24+ because they didn't make higher level versions of it and you literally can't progress past level 24 with them equipped.
To remedy this I think a transmog system should be implemented in Destiny, or something similar, where you are given the option to change the visuals of a certain piece of equipment but keep its stats.
How would they do this? Maybe they could add a vendor in the tower where you can, for a mote of light, combine 2 pieces of gear (bar exotics of course) and allow you to pick a new "shell" so to speak for a group of stats. For example, you hand over legendary gear to the vendor and he breaks it down into, let's say, equipment data. You could then apply that equipment data to any piece of the same armor (again, except for exotics) you want. And voila, more customization options, allowing for more personality and more uses of equipment already in the game.
TL; DR
Transmog system in Destiny.

Transmog... They already shipped the game. It's great idea and I'm not beating on you for saying it. But the cow is out of the barn already.

Great idea. "Become Legend". Pft. We all look the same...legendary/exotic armor with playdoh shaders. Wheeeeeeeeeee

Make a work shop in the tower where we can at least do custom colors to our armor and weapons.

Other mmo's have an option to copy the look of an older piece of gear to your current one. They either cost crafting materials or ingame currency. I actually have a full set of good looking older gear stored in my bank in case they ever plan to do this. If enough people ask for a vanity system, it can happen.

Good idea, I agree. Almost like enchanting gear in sky rim? You break something to learn about it then apply that knowledge to something else

Bump I wanna hear more opinions lol

Even just applying shaders to equipment separately would help, you have a great idea though
