Hey everyone how's it going. I am writing this post for additional information for anyone that gets the exotic bounty for the exotic weapon Thorn. The exotic quest is called A Light In The Dark and can be obtained from a Vanguard Missive attainable by completing and turning in regular bounties. The first requirement for the weapon is to perform the Summoning pits strike on the moon in order to unlock the actual bounty. The other requirements are as follow: 1. Kill Hive Monster's on the moon in order to obtain 500 points of kills. - This is easily done by going to the moon and playing the DARK Beyond mission as a farming spot. Just kill everything as soon as you get to the room with the ogre and then let the ogre finish you off and you will restart pretty much in the same room. Just rinse and repeat. 2. Obtain 500 points worth of kills in the crucible with void damage. - This was the toughest one for me as I don't regularly play in the crucible. Get as many clan mates as possible to join game with you (that means our great and magnanimous clan leader..) and have them back you up while you try to use a rocket launcher or another special weapon like the shotgun or the fusion rifle in order to most efficiently get points. Also even if you die at a 1:1 ration you can still pass this requirement because you get 5 points for a kill and only lose 2 for a death. 3.Trade in your bounty to the Speaker.- Easy enough, you must have a mote of light before you go speak to the speaker. You need the mote of light as he will take it as compensation for an infusion of light that you will need to combine with your gun. Takes no time at all for this requirement as well as 4.. 4. Deliver the bounty to the warlock Vanguard.- Ok now you take the bounty to the warlock vanguard and he will tell you that you need to defeat Xyd the Unwed.. Ohhhh BBBBoooooyyyyyyy.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAUTION WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO PERFORM SHOULD ONLY BE TRIED IF YOU ARE SUICIDAL, MASOCHISTIC, OR PLAIN OUT ENJOYING A CONTINOUS LOOP OF DESTRUCTION, DEATH, AND A LACK OF AMMO.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5. Defeat Xyd the Unwed.- Ok Xyd is a wizard that spawns in the Summoning Pits mission. However it is not the easy, happy go lucky strike that we have all come to love, no it is an amped up lvl 26 very hard difficulty mission that can be found right next to the actual summoning pits mission on the moon. Most of the mission is relatively easy with the right teammates ( over lvl 25). Once you get to the actual boss fight the fun begins though. Xyd only spawns after enough of the minions in the boss arena have been killed so the boss needs to be alive. However the constant spawning of lvl 26 heroic wizards is a real hassle to deal with and even the most grizzled veterans have a hard time with ( our great and magnanimous clan leader.. lol). In order to make this fight bearable you have two options. A. Have a team mate act as a spawn point in the back room behind the room that leads to the boss arena. IT CAN NOT BE THE IMEDIATE ROOM THAT LEADS TO THE BOSS ARENA AS A SHREAKER SPAWNS THERE THAT CAN KILL YOU. SHREAKER SHOULD NOT BE KILLED AS IT RELEASES ENERGY MISSLES UPON DEFEAT THAT CAN KILL YOU. Then the other two members of the team should proceed to kill apostles and acolytes until Xyd shows up. You will know him when you see him he is a lvl 26 heroic wizard named Xyd the Unwed ( a real asshole mate). Just finish him off and you good to go. Beware if you use this measure as the spawn point guardian can lag out.. (The Fuzzy Cup....) B. Have two guardians stay in the backroom and use heavy ammo in order to kill the acolytes and knights that rush the cave and have a blade master go invisible and kill as many monsters in the boss arena as possible.
