Communication: Typing in the tower.

We all know there isn't any good way to communicate in the tower, and proximity chat would get annoying due to certain people would abuse it by being loud/screaming/playing music. Imagine if we could use our destiny companion to type messages that pop up for people to see, similar to traditional MMOs. That way we would be able to type something like "Looking for 3 more members to raid with." Then someone can reply in game and you can invite them to your fireteam. It would also be used in trading if that ever comes out. The companion would also get more popular since it would have that extra feature. If you don't have the companion for easy typing, you should also just be able to use a controller/smartglass. If you're not using typing for party searching, just use it for pure socializing. If this can actually be an option in the game, another idea is to add Destiny based emoticons to the Destiny Companion in order for it to be exclusive, which gets more traffic on the app. If someone tries to spam messages, there should be a delay time to stop that from happening, or when you mute someone's mic, it also blocks their chat. This feature is what Destiny needs, this way the community doesn't have to struggle to meet others or get a party together. Go ahead and make suggestions in the comments, and give me some feedback on this idea. Thanks everyone.

  • +1 The Tower really lacks that "MMO" feel to it even though it's a public area for all Guardians to meet up and hangout. Without any communication it's very dull and I feel very isolated because the only form of communication is gestures and emotes. With the ability to type to eachother it would make for great conversations about missions, raids, loot, fireteams, etc. It would give the game more of an MMO feel as well as helping players feel a little more submersed in the Destiny atmosphere. I really hope this gets noticed/implemented by Bungie. It would make the Tower really fun! I wouldn't mind just sitting down somewhere in the tower and talking to a bunch of Guardians about random in-game or irl stuff to kill time while I rest from doing strikes and bounties for hours.
