Just a quick gear related question...
So I'm a 27 lock, 2 light away from being 28. I'm sure a lot of you guys are in the same position. I have full legendary with the sunslinger gloves maxed out for upgrades. I have enough shards and gear to disenchant to do 2 upgrades on my legendaries, bringing me to lvl 28.
But as the raid set gear has more light on it, surely I'm better off waiting to recieve a piece of set before I start upgrading standard legendary? As il be just wasting shards? My progress in VoG has been up to 3rd phase of Templar. Then had to join another group who were on last boss wich we downed last night (recieved my awesome white legendary shader btw) so would I be more valuable at 28? Or should I wait?

Edited by USMC2147: 10/5/2014 4:35:03 PMIf you create another character can do twice daily and weeklies and not have to worry about it to much and if you crate a 3rd just thought about that Friday. Now starting 3rd character and will be same class as primary so I can do raid 3 times a week for rewards and 2 of those will be with same class giving better chance to get armor for that class. And when that class hits 20 all you have to do is swap gear over. Only logical conclusion how some already have full raid sets seen a lot of people created 3 of same class. Beat it twice for rewards and not one pice of raid armor or weapon just shader energy and shards. I have

Edited by Aaron Teriyaki: 10/5/2014 11:19:58 AMWe're in the same boat my friend, i was 27 and didn't know wether to wait for raid gear or spend my precious ascendent shards, and i attempted the vault once but it was reset before i could finish off atheon. So in my experience i would say, level up to 28 and from their just keep raiding, and save your ascendent shards, you can get to level 29 without raid gear, but it would be impossible to get to level 30 so i wouldn't waste all my ascendent shards on legendary gear knowing they could be replaced soon. level 28 is a perfect level to do large amounts damage during the vault, so stay at 28 until you can find at least one piece of raid gear, and unload all of those saved up shards on that piece of gear. Lastly you never know what piece of raid gear you will get first, so gradually level up all your pieces of legendary gear so if you spend all your shards on a chest piece, and the first raid gear item you get is a chest piece, you didn't go wasting all of those shards Also i don't believe you need full raid gear to be level 30, don't be discouraged if you can find a full set, just keep leveling up that raid gear when you get it, and see where it takes you from there. In my opinion, it is best to get to level 28. After that, run through VoG on Hard with other 28+ until you get the Hard Raid gear. Then upgrade that in place of your other Legendaries. Why on hard? Because the armor has a different base color and I think slightly better stats. Same light level though.

Upgrade to 28 keep doing raids to get a price of gear, then upgrade to 29. Repeat the raid to get the rest of the gear until 30

1 ReplyIt becomes a bit irrelevant regarding shards when you start the raids. I got to 50+ shards very quickly after a few raids.

7 Repliesbetter to go all the way and be prepared for hard level events. if you're asking that type of question I know already you're gonna grind so why not lose a couple of weeks or months time and upgrade and reap the benefits later when the events become easier and easier.

11 RepliesI decided to use my shards to 29 from 27 so i can raid twice a week. Higher chance of raid gear and you get a -blam!- ton of shards from the raid.

1 ReplyI went ahead and upgraded to 28 without raid gear, 1 more upgrade to 29. I figured I could use the extra armor rating and I can be more effective in the weekly nightfall strike. Plus there is no guarantee of raid armor dropping, so I figured I would make myself as strong as possible with what I have right now. Once I get my 1st raid armor I will focus on that. Until then I realize I'm burning shards, but I suppose I'll just have to earn them back.
