Sorry to burst all of your bubbles people, but the cryptarch does NOT increase the chances of a legendary engram becoming a legendary. I have gotten my Cryptarch to rank 20 by, you guessed it, farming blues at the cave. I was originally rank 11 before I started farming but the cave does speed it up greatly. Anyway, back to the topic, Cryptarch rank doesn't mean anything, therefore, has no meaning in the game. This game has a few MMO elements, so I assumed the Cryptarch would be like a profession, which would give better gear the more I leveled it. Nope. After lvl 6-7 he gives random rewards in the mail for ranking up. Lvl 20 and he still gives 2 blues and no legendaries in the mail. Plus I haven't seen any noticeable difference at legendary engram success. So incase you were getting your hopes up for more common legendaries, better put your hopes back down. Gearing, the upgrading afterwords will take weeks unless you are incredibly lucky. Upgrade materials are far too hard to obtain as well. Even the raid doesn't give many upgrade materials. Only about 8 ascendant materials per run which isn't close to enough reward for the time and effort spent on it. All I can say is good luck to the other Guardians out there, the road to victory is long and grueling.
