Take heed when I say this, it's NOT worth using a super on one guardian, even if it means you lose a life!
(I'm looking at you voidwalker Warlocks, striker Titans and blademaster Hunters)
Save it for points where there is a heavy concentration of enemies, for example in control a team usually gathers around to capture, if you have your super it will make you feel like a god when you wipe a whole team out. With clash it applies too, use your supers to break and dismantle the enemy team, spread them out so your team can pick them off, this applies to game types such as clash or skirmish.
If it's coming towards the end of a match and you're down to the last minute, then I suggest you put that super on any unlucky guardian that comes in your way :)
No matter how hard or daunting the crucible may be, keep a calm and level head during the fight and you will prevail.

Being a Voidwalker Warlock I have to admit I am guilty of this and it's generally the case that as soon as I have wasted my super on a solitary guardian, I turn the corner and run into a bigger group that are more deserving of the obliteration. There's a learning curve to these classes and its all part of the fun.
