  • Bungie, will you PLEASE make some in-game announcement somehow to Destiny gamers that all the narrative and exposition and pretty much all the Destiny storyline as a whole is only found in this Destiny companion app? I only accidentally found that out and until I knew I could find Destiny's missing narrative and exposition in a uh, ahem, companion app I thought Destiny was the absolute laziest game story/narrative/exposition wise that had EVER been made, but now that I know I can find it in this app I LOVE the Destiny story! Seriously, before I made that discovery I thought the original Pong, you know the first video game ever made where you paddle a ball back and forth for all eternity, had more of a narrative than Destiny. Dialogue like "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" and also "I could tell you stories of The Traveller and how he fought all these battles and was then defeated..." followed by a big fat zero attempt at telling us a single damn bit of that story because "we told kids those stories to scare them but now we don't need to because they're scared anyway" is just f'ing lazy writing, and at a level I've never seen in a game before. Why the shit was it so damn difficult to elaborate a little more than "I'm your dang ghost, and despite being in the perfect position to add awesome narrative to your gaming experience I'm going to boss you around and never speak one single witty or interesting bit of dialogue because you know what, my creators just shoved it all in a companion app as lame cards instead of having the games story be told in the actual game itself even though they knew people despise lack of story and exposition in video games, they can just accidentally find it in text form in a companion app then won't even f'ing bother to tell them about THAT either! Genius!" Right, because who in their right mind would be so stupid to think maybe after spending so much time on making the game's other features great that maybe they should add "copy/paste companion app story info into actual game" to their to-do list before the game is released. Seriously guys! You NEED to tell people they can find the story in this app with all the hate I'm seeing and hearing online from people that believed your claim that Destiny had "epic cinematic storytelling" but then every character that has a chance in game for any narrative just blandly gives some generic no-detail and zero personality explanation as to what's happening for 2 seconds but then suddenly evades the topic because for some annoying reason he just "doesn't have the time to explain!" If that's true then why do I have all the -blam!-ing time in the world to stare at people dancing and pointing at each other and CAN LITERALLY MAKE MY CHARACTER SIT DOWN FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY IF I WANT before deciding to attack anything, yet these pointless in game conversations with drab cliche sci-fi robe wearing faceless asshole NPC's can't be bothered with 5 minutes of SOME kind of explanation? For -blam!-'s sake Bungie! I've played games where TALKING FECAL PILES had more to say and the things they said were SIGNIFICANTLY more profound and meaningful despite coming from a feces pile than ANY character in Destiny. But at least I can come to this app and read f'ing text screen after text screen of narrative that pretty much every other developer in the industry would have thought "this game that I've worked so hard on should have all it's storyline intact INSIDE the game experience itself." But Bungie is different, Bungie says "Let's leave all narrative and storyline crap out of the game entirely, just type it up and put it in an external app, but by golly don't tell ANYONE where the hell we are hiding Destiny's story. We wouldn't want anyone knowing we worked hard on one, now do we?"
