Don't make Crucible mandatory.

Crucible should only exist as pure PVP. I'd remove ALL rewards for participating in Crucible. No more random loot, no more exp and most of all no more Crucible marks. As odd as it may sound there are gamers that don't live for PVP, in fact some really don't like it. I hate having to struggle through PVP just to earn currency (one of five different currencies) to get better gear. If players want to PVP please let them, just don't make it a necessary part of the game. Bungie please add a Titan Mark, Hunter Cloak and Warlock Band that converts Vanguard Marks into Crucible Marks for those of us that don't enjoy PVP. Or perhaps an exchange rate of sorts across all currencies, 1 Crucible Mark for 2 Vanguard Marks, 1 Crucible Mark for 10,000 Glimmer, 10 Crucible Marks for 2 Mote of Light etc.... Note I'm aware of the material exchange but this gives me more options and at LVL 26 I need to conserve materials where I can. And of course for those that enjoy Crucible more than the Strike/Patrol the currencies can be swapped. The Strike playlist is great and I'm sure over time more will be added, but weekly/daily Strikes and Raids need Matchmaking badly. I'm the only one of my friends playing on Xbox One so it's difficult to find people to Raid with. I'd suggest Matchmaking in all but story and patrol. I understand why people say Raids shouldn't be Matchmade but I'm a human and have no problem communicating with others over my headset - I don't need to know people to enable effective communication. Also please raise/remove glimmer cap and increase the size of the vault. Let me know what you think, I can't be the only one, can I?

I don't understand, all my best gear was earned doing patrols and bounties. I do play pvp though its part of the game. If you don't like pvp then don't complain because the problem is you and not the design of the game. I guarantee that 99% of people that dont play pvp haven't given it a decent try. Its really fun and good to fight an enemy with brains for a change. Edit: you can earn faction rep and marks doing bounties and patrols.

  • I agree that PVP shouldn't be forced on players who would rather not entertain the idea of playing in the Crucible, and that's due to how gear isn't exclusive to either PVP or PVE. PVE is inevitable to everyone who play games in similar delivery as Destiny (if there are AI enemies and a stat system, there's PVE), but PVP is a preference. Gear exclusive to either modes of play should exist as this would keep both player bases happy. A loose example here would be, and bear with me since I don't know exactly what is factored in or out of weapons and armor while in the Crucible: Weapons apparently do not factor in damage upgrades. So instead, to differentiate between a PVP weapon and a PVE weapon, the PVP weapon would instead have different upgrades replace the damage upgrades (so let's say Explosive Rounds, or AP Rounds). This would add versatility and/or different options for PVP setups and differentiate the weapon from a PVE suited weapon, which let's say, has higher base damage than a PVP weapon (which then makes use of the damage upgrades against more difficult AI opponents or Bosses who would typically have waaaaaay more health and/or armor than the average player). Balancing altogether is another issue, but the above would cater to both types of players without forcing either to participating in either modes for a specific gear piece or weapon (if they didn't want to)... At least if damage upgrades aren't factored into Crucible matches. Then there's the upcoming Iron Banner which would derail my suggestion above to a point... I would assume a weapon designed for PVP would outclass a weapon which didn't - but that's all balancing in that aspect.

  • It's not mandatory at all. In fact, it gives the least reward.

  • Agree, it's very closed-minded of Bungie to make PVP necessary. I too suck at PVP and am willing to do it but accepting the fact that I will never be good at it. I HAD an exotic bounty but just tossed it. First part was to complete 5 strikes without dying - no problem. But the second part made me just FURIOUS - I would have to get 25 MORE kills than deaths in however many matches it took me to get there. And it's keeping score - I had it at two, but then got kicked around in another match so back to zero and that's when I tossed the bounty away. Basically, it was a shitty decision to create such a bounty that INSISTS someone has to be good at PVP to finish it. Really, Bungie? What on earth were you thinking to decide only PVP elites should deserve an exotic weapon reward? Why would you willingly alienate a large portion of the playerbase that not only doesn't like PVP but isn't good at it and NEVER WILL BE? This does not sit well with me and has me considering whether or not I'll buy DLC package. I still have a few months to decide so better buckle down and win me back!

    • I'm with you and strongly dislike the Crucible.....but its part of the game and I just avoid it. I have managed level 25 without going there more than 3-4 time (and failing badly). Please just add the ability to swap items with friends when you get a exotic for another class.

    • People need loot from the crucible just like we need loot from strikes. But loot and purchasable items should be PvP specific if it's PvP exclusive.

    • I hate the crucible, but that absolutely doesn't mean I don't want crucible rewards in the game. Why would you just pointlessly play PvP? The rewards are nice, and if you're good enough, you earn those rewards. And yes, I hate the crucible because I'm terrible at it. Lol.

This is a Bungie game who's foundation was set from good PVP. Nobody is forcing to do PVp but please forbid exotic bounties be exotic making you play every aspect of the game.

        • I've just written off PVP gear. I like your idea, but I can't see it happening. I'd say push Bungie into taking the FOTC and making it a PVE faction.

        • Honestly I always disliked PvP in almost every MMO or even FPS's but this one is pretty -blam!-en epic!! I mean look at halos compared to this or CoD even, I can't believe I'm actually going here...., defiance's PvP compared to this you know what I see? No comparison! I mean it's the only PvP I will ever play because it's awesome and hell the rewards make it even worth while because what bungie is trying to promote is a casually fun PvP based gameplay because they basically say to you "well since you lost we'll give you crucible marks 10 rep and a cookie!" Okay maybe not that last part but it's just there to give you the sense of fun and enjoyability and honestly if they took out the rewarding thing it would ruin all of it's promoting health to goodness fun but that's my opinion.

          • I haven't had any problems with PvP, but I've heard about the exotic bounties, and I think it can be ridiculous. Also, there should be better chances of getting legendary engrams/exotics in strikes like there is in the crucible.

          • Agreed. I just learned yesterday that most of the endgame gear requires Crucible Marks, which leaves me with the impression that PVP is being forced on us. I didn't get this game for the PVP (shocking, I know), but for the co-op experience. Why doesn't Bungie just remove the distinction between "Vanguard" and "Crucible" marks and just merge them into one currency? That way, this currency can be earned by doing both PVP OR PVE. Also, they can change the weekly 100 point limit for both marks to 200 for the new one due to the merger. I'm assuming Bungie is doing this to keep the PVP population up, but I'm one of the guys being dragged in kicking and screaming.

            • It isn't necessary. I'm level 28 with exotics and legendaries. I only played a half of a dozen PvP matches. It isn't efficient. Do your bounties, public events, strikes and missions, etc. Some farming is involved as well. I'm cryptarch rank 23, and Vanguard 4. These give you legendary engrams every time you rank up. I also max my crucible marks each week with spinmetal. I plan to hit Crucible rank 3 without playing the Crucible. So, if PvP is not your game, you are probably in a better position to rank up if you are efficient and complete multiple tasks at once.

            • The PvP is great to have, it makes for a more complete game that is able to cater to a wider audience. I however agree that, specifically for the exotic weapon bounties, you should not have to be good at it to progress it. I'm all up for compulsory crucible participation, just not performance based progress for the exotic weapon bounties.

              • Dark Souls II suffered the same issue with its online play. Did you want to get all the miracles or an item that lets you turn into a dragon? Well you have to go online and deal with shaky servers and confusing matchmaking that were an issue in the first game. Don't want to do that? Well you'll have to grind enemies until they drop the items you want before they stop spawning until you start another playthrough where'll be tougher. Went on a bit a rant there, but I definitely feel the same as what you're going through.

              • All your points are good ones.I too am not a fan of PVP. I spent 15 years in the military in the real world and running around into "fatal funnels" and open kill zones is so conrtrary to my Special Forces training It drives me nuts.I hate the Crucible because It's manatory If you want decent gear. In the mean time I've got 20,000 plus glimmer that's just wasted....... I tried the glass vault on my own only to discover that I have to have two other players to at least to hold open the gate zones and like you I'm the only one that owns an xbox one right now plus to be honest I prefer single player games. Splinter Cells right up my alley as an example.I'm looking forward to The Division next year. Any way You are not alone brother....Not all of us are fans of PVP's..
