I have been reading a lot about the dissapointment over loot drops/cryptarch and the disdain for grinding and that better gear isn't constantly happening, but I think I am starting to see something that I didn't think about before. Remember seeing all the awesome trailers and posters and seeing that catchphrase "become legend"? I think I get it. It isn't about getting better gear necessarily, though nicer stats is always nice, it is about getting memorable (legendary) gear. It is about becoming concrete and solid. When you think of a legendary warrior or wizard. You don't think of them constantly changing their gear, you think of them becoming legendary with a unique weapon or armor like excalibur, or the master sword, or the cymaritan (for you hellboy fans out there). The idea I believe is finding your legendary gear and sticking to it upgrading it and then basically finetuning it then to your most deadly precision. Finding then the best weapon that works for you and once you find that, sticking to it. Once that happens, yes all other loot becomes a bit obsolete, but hey, it has become easier to upgrade weapons and armor hasn't it? And to the argument then that legendary gear can be bought, well yes it can, through gruelling dedication to either vangaurd or crucible over a period of weeks of gameplay since the game puts caps on how many marks you can get in a week. Also yes you can get similar pieces, but why do you think socializing and clans have been so stressed upon? It is so you can form an order a legendary sect of gamers for new gamers to look up to, to become, in fact legendary, in the game world and destiny community. Think of norse mythology with valhalla and the hall of heros and warriors (holy crap, that makes the ghosts valkyries). Always reviving to go into battle.
