I want Invasion events

Like the Vex or Cabal invading Earth and you have to defend against their attack for x amount of time. Edit: wow this thread is tending now? Amazing! Hopefully Bungie reads it!

  • I would like this as well. I have been thinking about this for a long time. I think it would be cool to have public events set at the tower in which the Guardians present will have the option of taking part int a "horde" mode of sorts. Guardians would be going about their affairs when suddenly the tower darkens, warning sirens and lights spring up, and the girl on the PA goes "Attention Guardians! The __________ (Vex, Cabal, Hive, Fallen) are at our walls!" And a "Join event" prompt would show. Guardians would then be teleported to the wall (or even a part of the actual city, since we never really get to explore the full city itself) and would have to fend off an invasion force of that enemy group. And it would be magnificent. It would be large, with up to 10 guardians (or more, possibly. Public Events can support that many) holding off waves of enemies (we are used to them coming at us in waves, afterall). Imagine the Battle of Helms Deep, only with Titans, Hunters and Warlocks fending off the hordes and defending the walls of the city. The event would last a long time, perhaps the same length as a standard Crucible match. Battle is over when either all the Guardians die or when the timer runs out. Guardians who make it to the end get a Rare or Legendary Engram. It could follow the same principle of the Outpost Attacks from the game "Dead Frontier." That's how I would do it anyway.

    • make it large scale so you have got a seamless world with hundreds of guardians taking on 10's of thousands of vex hive cabal or fallen or multiple of the above.

      • I would second this idea. The world of Destiny DESPERATELY needs something to make it more alive and interactive. Adding invasion events that change the dynamics of the zones (or adds a new zone that is open only during the event) would be a great improvement and give people to more to do. Said events could run either two different days a week or during weekends. Perhaps for each area (or one area if they were to add a zone specifically for the event) they would have a friendly 'beach head' or 'defensive zone' where the Tower Guardian leaders and a bunch of NPC Guardians have set up shop to combat the threats. This would act as sort of a 'micro Tower' where you would be able to get new bounty missions, take part in 'hold the line' public events and other fun stuff that would help the world and characters feel more alive as well as turning in quests for rewards and reputation (As well as engrams from world drops). All in all, we just really need to have something else to do that breaks up the monotony of Strike/Crucible grinding.

      • I agree, the new PC game The Elder Scrolls Online has many worldwide events every week that force all players to fight together. I think an invasion in this game would have the same cool affect.

      • Would be a nice public event, like having players go across different areas of the map defending certain checkpoints, or players can invade cabal, fallen or hive or vex areas and get an artifact or something and bring it back.

      • See there's these species called "Hive" and "Fallen", that have captured all of earth except the last city...I think earth has been pretty much invaded at this point.

Id love to see an "eventual" invasion on the tower ( think mass effect ) preferably at the end of the series in a massive last push DLC or something to that effect. It would be tragic yet emotional to have our home destroyed but it would convey that invigorated sense of urgent despair and bring us the feeling of near extinction that we've been told we have now. Gotta remember that by then we will be so use to kicking alien ass it won't really feel like that anymore . Tower Invasion ... 'nuff said ( what u think ? )

Hopefully Bungie reads it![/quote] Ive been on venus and earth when the enemy move against each other, if thats what you mean, you get right in the center and fight them off. As time progress's the enemies because noble, reaver, etc. After a while it stops though.

      • That farming spot people love/hate/could care less has that full scale war between hive/fallen now and then, occasionally one HUGE vex should spawn with an army of lesser vex and treat it as a real public event in which you have to kill that huge vex in the middle of the 3 way war! This would be amazing

Definitely. Not now, obviously, as Bungie's got a lot on their plates and a lot of plans already no doubt. But in the future as a new type of event. Not like public events, but more like the upcoming Wrath of the Queen event. A special event that you can join from the tower that lasts for a week or two. Like someone else said, with periodic bosses for players to team up against regardless of fireteam, and with special full on missions to accomplish that help defend the city. And it doesn't necessarily just have to be the city. Like say the Vex decide to strike the Hive on the Moon, or the Fallen House of Kings and Fallen House of Devils start going at it on Earth, vying against each other for the Cosmodrome. Same thing. A full on war between factions with special missions, periodic bosses, and that you can join from the tower. Finally, these events need to have unique loot to them (or higher loot drop rate), and there needs to be some change in the game to show that they're going on. Like if something's invading the City then maybe there are refugee seeking shelter in Tower, or if say it's like the Fallen fight I just suggested then when you go to the Cosmodrome you can see the two factions fighting each other even outside of the event, like how the Fallen normally clash with the Hive.

          • I think it would be an interesting plot point if in the end of the last dlc, once you complete it all, you are treated to an ending where the humans loss the last city and evacuate pulling the traveler in tow

            • Honestly if they really, really wanted to make this impactful they should look to Guild Wars 2 Lions Arch event. Put basically what would happen is a series of events that lead up to something big (over the course of a month or two). The final event leads to the tower being invaded and the guardians being displaced/pushed out to a new zone which is basically a refugee camp in the city, from there players have to work together to retake the tower, naturally they are successful but it's left heavily damaged from the battle leading to the map having slight adjustments like destroyed architecture etc. which gradually gets repaired/fixed over the duration of a month. If you did a Invasion that you wanted to catch everyone's immediate attention that's how I would do it and changing the default spawn point of the tower to the refugee camp so new players don't get lynched on arrival.

              • +1 I think this would be a ton of fun. Maybe a planned monthly event or something like Bungie has been doing. I'm all for open world mayhem. Only problem with doing it on earth is if there are newbies out trying to progress they may get smashed and discouraged.
